Broadcaster Kim Ga-yeon expressed her support for Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party.

On the 30th, at the campaign site for candidate Lee Jae-myung held at the clock tower square of Chungju Gymnasium in Chungbuk, Kim Ga-yeon took the podium and said, "I stand here not as a celebrity, but as a member of the public," drawing attention.

Kim Ga-yeon reflected on the Gwangju Democratic Uprising, stating, "On May 18, 1980, I was in Gwangju. Gwangju is my hometown," and "At the age of nine in 1980, I experienced something that should never have happened. Martial law was declared, and innocent citizens were sacrificed."

She continued, "I believed that there would never be martial law again during my lifetime. But on December 3rd of last year, an absurd martial law was declared," expressing her frustration.

Kim Ga-yeon recalled, "At that time, I knew nothing. My mother told me, 'You must not go outside,' so I spent my days on the roof with my younger sibling." She added, "My younger sibling had a high fever, and my mother took him to a pediatrician in the next neighborhood. At that time, I saw people covered with white cloth in front of the courthouse. At first, I didn't realize they were people. My mother said, 'Hold the wall and walk straight. You must not look.' What a curious nine-year-old girl saw out of the corner of her eye were feet stained with blood and dirt," as she became teary-eyed.

She also mentioned, "At that time, we were branded as rioters, so we couldn't talk about these things," and added, "Because of the sacrifices of those people, our country's democracy has developed, and we have been able to live peacefully."

She then asked, "Everyone, how have you felt since December 3rd?" and emphasized, "Do you think everything is over just because he (former President Yoon Seok-youl) was dismissed? It is not."

Kim Ga-yeon shared, "I went to vote early yesterday, and a young man said, 'I'm excited that I can take him down with my one vote.' I was really happy. Democracy is alive in our country, and division is not allowed for all young people."

Kim Ga-yeon stated, "The reason I support Lee Jae-myung is that I have no doubt he will do exceptionally well," and added, "They are like an oil slick blocking our way. I earnestly ask you to completely remove this oil slick that keeps coming back even after being wiped away."

In conclusion, she said, "I am 54 years old, but I still enjoy playing 'League of Legends.' I have even played team games with a 13-year-old boy. What does age matter in a world we create together? It is a world we create together. I believe candidate Lee Jae-myung will create such a world and support him."

Kim Ga-yeon had also supported candidate Lee Jae-myung during the last presidential election, adding her name to the list of supporters.
