Actor Lee Hyun-kyun shared his thoughts on the conclusion of 'The Resident: A Wise Resident's Life'.
In the tvN drama 'The Resident: A Wise Resident's Life' (hereafter referred to as 'The Resident'), which ended on the 18th, Lee Hyun-kyun played the role of 'Jo Jun-mo', a gynecology professor at Jongno Yulje Hospital, who is known as the terrifying 'Jekyll and Hyde' and the number one target of hospital avoidance.
With a haggard face, a perpetually sensitive expression, and a commanding presence as he storms through the hospital, he portrayed a professor that feels familiar, bringing a sense of realism to the drama as if a real professor had appeared.
The cynical and hot-tempered Jo Jun-mo puts those around him on edge, but as time passes, he shows a more human side, genuinely feeling for a young guardian facing the impending loss of their sick mother, and avoiding his colleague Sabi (played by Han Ye-ji) whenever they meet in the hospital after she faints, expressing that he is just a person too, which evokes realistic empathy.
Lee Hyun-kyun stated, “I remember all the time spent working as a team with the 'The Resident' crew,” and added, “As the show started airing, I received many messages from acquaintances telling me not to bully the residents. I think there were a lot of reactions saying I really looked like a doctor.”
He continued, “I tried to bring the feel of real doctors' lives into my performance, and I felt proud that this aspect was well expressed.”
Lee Hyun-kyun has appeared in films such as 'The Land of Happiness', '1987', and dramas like 'Ask the Stars', 'Uncle Sam-sik', and 'Parasyte: The Gray', as well as 'Seonsan'.
