Actress Hwang Jung-eum, who was indicted on charges of embezzling company funds amounting to 4.3 billion won, has announced that she is in the process of settling the unpaid amount.

On the 20th, Hwang Jung-eum's agency, Y1 Entertainment, stated to Star Today, “While we cannot disclose the specific amount, a significant portion has been repaid, and we are also in the process of settling some unpaid amounts. We plan to do our best to complete the procedures.”

It was reported on the 15th that Hwang Jung-eum was brought to trial on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement).

Hwang Jung-eum is accused of embezzling over 4.3 billion won of company funds, including receiving 700 million won under the pretext of advance payments and investing it in cryptocurrency, from early 2022 until December 2022.

In response, Hwang Jung-eum expressed, “I am sorry for causing concern to many people due to this shameful matter,” and added, “I had the intention of growing the company, and around 2021, I was encouraged by people around me to invest company funds in cryptocurrency, which I did not know much about, leading me to make an ill-informed decision.”

Due to this controversy, Hwang Jung-eum will be edited out of the final episode of the SBS Plus and E Channel variety show 'Solo Because'.
