Actor Ahn Hyo-seop is meeting with the 'Spider-Man' production team.
According to his agency on the 25th, Ahn Hyo-seop will participate as a voice artist in the Netflix global animated film 'KPop Demon Hunters.'
‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is a hybrid action musical animation set in a dual world where members of globally popular K-POP girl groups hunt demons offstage. The project is produced by Sony Pictures Animation, known for global hits like 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.'
Directed by Korean-American director Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans of 'Wish Dragon,' the film is expected to capture both Korean cultural identity and a global sensibility. It is noted as a significant project that showcases 'K-culturalization' of global content rather than just the 'globalization of K-content.'
This film, which harmonizes dazzling stages, deep emotional narratives, and supernatural thrills, is an emotionally centered content that unravels the anxious identities and emotional balances of the current generation through the cultural code of K-POP. It is recognized as a symbolic case showing that K-POP has become a central element in designing the structure of global content rather than just a genre.
In this work, Ahn Hyo-seop voices the character 'Jin-woo,' the leader of a boy group and a strong and captivating male protagonist, leading the narrative's central axis. He challenges a high-level acting method that goes beyond simple acting, conveying the subtle nuances of emotions solely through his voice, showcasing a new way of being as a K-actor.
The film is set to be released simultaneously in over 190 countries on Netflix on June 20.
Ahn Hyo-seop recently completed filming for the movie 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint,' where he plays the lead role of Kim Dok-ja, which is set to be released in July.
