On the 22nd, Choi Yeo-jin addressed the fake news in a video titled "Choi Yeo-jin, the Actress, Courageously Made a Request" uploaded on her YouTube channel.
Choi Yeo-jin mentioned, "I received a call from Bae Jung-nam last night. He is a friend of over 20 years, and he said, 'I almost believed it too,'" referring to the fake news. She continued, "Bae Jung-nam advised me, 'If you stay quiet, you will suffer too much, so take all necessary actions,'" adding, "I don't want to respond to every single detail, but it's absurd that many people are reacting and believing these stories. Experiencing it firsthand made me think about what to do. It crossed the line, and my acquaintances are hurt by it," explaining her reasons for addressing the fake news.
The fake news mentioned by Choi Yeo-jin was related to her fiancé. She revealed a video of the fake news that appears when searched on YouTube.
The video contained claims that her fiancé and his ex-wife are affiliated with a cult and that Choi Yeo-jin is being used by them. It also raised suspicions that the water sports business and accommodation operated by her fiancé included the word "Eden," and that she was living with his ex-wife.
In response, Choi Yeo-jin stated, "Just because two letters are the same in the four-character business name does not mean it is related to a specific group. It is completely unrelated, and I am non-religious."
She also clarified, "I have never lived in the same house as them even once. There are ten houses here, and I was living alone in one of them. The ex-wife ran a restaurant, so I had no choice but to eat there. It was portrayed as if I was provided with accommodation and meals, but that is not true. I spent a lot of money."
She added, "They said I called them 'Mom' and 'Dad,' but I have never called them that even once. It was just a nuance that they took care of me like a mom and dad," and emphasized, "Looking at the relationships described online, it seems strange to me too. They fed me and let me stay over, and I called them 'Mom' and 'Dad,' but they are just close older sister and younger brother. If you think about it that way, it all doesn't make sense," reiterating that it is fake news.
Finally, Choi Yeo-jin stated, "This has crossed a line beyond Andromeda. Please take down the video and comments. Do not harass me."
