Hong Shin-bok, a singer from the Sesam Trio who sang the hit song 'If I Go to Nasan' in the 1970s, passed away on the 6th at the age of 72.
According to Yonhap News on the same day, the deceased's family stated, "Hong Shin-bok passed away this morning due to illness."
Born in 1953 in Daegu, Hong Shin-bok formed the Sesam Trio with Kwon Seong-hee and Jeon Hang in 1977. The following year, in 1978, he hit it big with 'If I Go to Nasan'. After that, he released a second album featuring songs like 'Oh! Oh! Oh!' and 'White Wings' before leaving the group.
In 1980, he formed the Rainbow Trio with Kim Young-soo and Ham Young-mi, winning an award at the TBC World Song Festival that same year with 'The Path of Love'. He later primarily worked as a songwriter, presenting hit songs like 'Lonely Lover' and 'Is This Okay?' for singer Kim Soo-hee.
Having undergone dialysis for about 30 years, Hong Shin-bok opened a YouTube channel in 2022, consistently uploading videos of himself singing and continuing his musical activities.
The funeral hall has been set up at Hanil Hospital in Dobong-gu, Seoul. The funeral will be held at 5:30 AM on the 8th.
