Comedian Kim Doo-young has immigrated to Cebu, Philippines with his family.
On the 5th, Kim Doo-young announced on his Instagram, “This evening, I am leaving Korea with my family to start a new life in a foreign country.”
He stated, “I hope you will support the beginning of my second act in life that I have dreamed of for a long time, and I will live happily with my family.” He added, “Having completed 20 years in broadcasting this year, I wanted to escape the rapidly changing broadcasting production environment and the flood of quickly consumed content, and live a little slower and more leisurely in a hot summer country without a set return date.”
He continued, “You may be surprised by this sudden news, but I have been preparing steadily for the life I have dreamed of, and finally, I am leaving today.”
However, he clarified that this is not a retirement from comedy. He said, “I will continue my activities in Cebu,” emphasizing, “When people ask if this is retirement or if I am giving up being a comedian, my answer is challenge. As soon as I arrive, I will engage in various activities, including YouTube documenting my local adaptation and travel business, and I will consistently showcase my abilities.”
Additionally, he added, “Just because I am leaving Korea does not mean I am no longer a comedian. As long as I am alive, I will live for my family.”
Kim Doo-young debuted as a comedian in 2006 through MBC's 15th open recruitment. He has appeared in various comedy programs, including seasons 5 and 6 of tvN's 'SNL Korea' and 'Comedy Big League', showcasing his versatility.
