Actress Lee Joo-sil has become a star in the sky. She was 81 years old.
According to entertainment media Joy News 24, Lee Joo-sil passed away at around 10:20 AM today at her second daughter's home in Uijeongbu, Seoul.
Her agency, 2130 Culture, officially stated, "It is true that actress Lee Joo-sil has passed away."
Previously, the late actress was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and had been battling it for 13 years. Although she had received a complete recovery diagnosis through consistent management, she recently learned through examinations that the cancer had recurred. The cause of death was stomach cancer, and she received CPR at the Catholic University of Korea Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital but ultimately passed away.
Earlier, Lee Joo-sil revealed on MBN's "Exclusive World" last year, "30 years ago, while washing my little child, my second child said, 'Oh? Mom, there's a bead in your breast?' So I touched it, and it felt hard like a stone. The children insisted that I go to the hospital, and they said it was breast cancer. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and was given a prognosis of one year to live."
Lee Joo-sil was actively working until recently. She appeared in the KBS2 weekend drama "Beauty and the Beast" last year and played the role of Hwang Jun-ho's (Wi Ha-jun) mother in the Netflix original series "Squid Game 2."
The funeral for the late Lee Joo-sil is scheduled to be held at Sinchon Severance Hospital, and condolences will be accepted starting from the 3rd. The funeral will be held on the 5th.
