Broadcaster Yoo Jae-suk has achieved the remarkable record of winning the ‘2024 SBS Entertainment Awards’ trophy, marking his 20th Grand Prize.
On the 29th, at the ‘2024 SBS Entertainment Awards’ held at SBS Prism Tower in Sangam, Seoul, Yoo Jae-suk accomplished the feat of winning his 20th Grand Prize. Over the past year, Yoo Jae-suk successfully led ‘Running Man’ and ‘Whenever Possible,’ showcasing his status as a ‘living legend’ in the entertainment industry.
Holding the Grand Prize trophy, Yoo Jae-suk expressed his overwhelming gratitude, saying, “I am so thankful. I don’t know how to express my gratitude for receiving this award again.” He continued to thank his family and the production team, stating, “I thought deeply, and the first time I received the Grand Prize was in 2005. By receiving this award today, I have now received the Grand Prize for the 20th time. I never thought this day would come. The fact that it’s my 20th Grand Prize after 20 years means a lot to me.” He added, “I believe this is a time when laughter is truly needed. I will work even harder with many colleagues for laughter,” and concluded by shouting, “I did it!” while raising the trophy high to cheers.
The ‘Producer Award’ went to Lee Sang-min from ‘My Little Old Boy’ and ‘Shoe Off, Dolsing For Men.’ Lee Sang-min said, “The only award missing from my home’s SBS trophy collection is the Producer Award. It was an award I really wanted. Even if I don’t have a Grand Prize in my life, I hoped to at least have the Producer Award, so I worked hard on all the programs,” sharing his thoughts. He added, “I feel a determination. I will work harder and challenge myself for the Grand Prize,” drawing applause from the audience.
The honor of the ‘Most Popular Program Award’ chosen by online viewers went to ‘Running Man.’ Yoo Jae-suk, holding the microphone on behalf of the team, said, “’Running Man’ has become the longest-running variety show in Korea, and if we were to compare it to cars, we are like classic cars. Although it’s the same car, it requires more fuel and more maintenance. I want to thank our production team and members for their efforts. We will continue to run hard in the future,” expressing his determination.
The ‘Highest Ratings Program Award’ was awarded to ‘My Little Old Boy,’ which has been at the top of entertainment ratings for eight years. Lim Won-hee mentioned, “One of my acquaintances said that after a hard day’s work, watching ‘My Little Old Boy’ or SBS entertainment is their joy. I am grateful that programs like ‘My Little Old Boy’ and SBS entertainment provide a lot of strength to everyone,” and humorously added to Yoo Yeon-seok, who had promised to appear on ‘My Little Old Boy’ as part of a ratings pledge, “Please keep your promise to appear, Yoo Yeon-seok.”
The Male Excellence Award was shared by Kim Seung-soo from ‘My Little Old Boy’ and Ryu Soo-young from ‘Jungle Bobs.’ Kim Seung-soo said, “When I first received the proposal for ‘My Little Old Boy,’ I had a lot of concerns. I wondered if my living alone at this age would be uncomfortable for viewers,” and expressed his gratitude to the production team and fellow cast members, saying, “I am thankful to the production team of ‘My Little Old Boy’ for making it not unpleasant to watch, and to my brothers, sisters, and mothers who participated with me.”
Ryu Soo-young, who conveyed his acceptance speech from Peru, shed tears of joy while holding the trophy. He said, “I am grateful to receive such a big award while cooking on the program ‘Jungle Bobs.’ ‘Jungle Bobs’ is a program that goes to people who are not familiar with Korean cuisine, learns about their food, shares our food, and shares culture. I believe that if we eat the same rice, we are the same ethnicity,” and expressed his determination to work hard for Season 2. Ryu Soo-young, Choi Hyun-seok, Choi Daniel, and Kim Ok-bin will be featured in ‘Jungle Bobs - Peru Food,’ which will be broadcast for the first time on February 27 (Thursday), raising viewers' expectations.
The ‘2024 SBS Entertainment Awards’ opened with a spectacular magic performance by ‘The Magic Star’ team, capturing attention. In Part 1, couples Jo Woo-jong♥Jung Da-eun and Kim Min-jae♥Choi Yoo-ra from ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny’ showcased a waltz to the song ‘Night Yanggang,’ creating a warm festive atmosphere. For the opening of Part 2, Tak Jae-hoon and Ji Ye-eun presented a remodeling stage of Rose’s ‘APT.’ to boost the excitement, while Shin Gi-ru and Lee Guk-joo, along with Kim Bo-kyung, Kyung-seo, and Min-seo, energized the audience with ‘I’ll Show You.’ The ‘2024 SBS Entertainment Awards,’ held on the first-ever national holiday of Seollal, provided a rich array of entertainment that the whole family could enjoy, concluding grandly.
