Artist United (CEO Hwang Kyung-joo) is collaborating with global AI startup Perplexity to actively pursue new AI business initiatives.
On the 24th, Artist United stated, “This collaboration aims to introduce Perplexity's advanced AI search technology tailored to the Korean market to develop customized solutions, thereby providing new value to domestic companies,” adding, “We are also keeping the possibility of offering innovative services to general consumers open in the future.”
Perplexity gained attention by launching its AI search engine service in 2022. The company attracted significant investments from prominent global investors, including Nvidia, SoftBank, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, achieving a corporate valuation of $9 billion (approximately 13 trillion won) as of last year.
According to Artist United, the collaboration with Perplexity began during the visit of Perplexity's founder and CEO, Aravind Srinivasan, to Korea in September last year. CEO Srinivasan discussed the potential for collaboration during a meeting with Artist United's internal director Lee Jung-jae, which led to the establishment of a concrete business direction.
The two companies are currently developing specialized services in four areas based on Perplexity's AI search engine API: ▲ Commerce, ▲ Online Advertising, ▲ Marketing, and ▲ Entertainment. They anticipate that this will enable “efficient customized solutions for corporate clients and intuitive, innovative experiences for general consumers.”
In particular, they focus on providing segmented solutions such as personalized marketing messages, customized shopping experiences, and optimized content recommendations, supporting companies' digital transformation (DX). In this process, Artist United is expected to actively leverage its technology sales capabilities to enhance competitiveness.
An official from Artist United stated, “The collaboration with Perplexity will not simply stop at technology adoption but will lead to the development of customized solutions for domestic companies using AI,” adding, “We will provide differentiated services based on globally top-level technological capabilities.”
