Actor Han Jin-hee recalled his 7-year-old grandson who passed away from leukemia 12 years ago.
On the 5th, Han Jin-hee appeared on the YouTube channel 'Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life' to share his recent updates.
Here, Song Seung-hwan opened the conversation by saying, "Didn’t you have a heartbreaking experience over ten years ago when your grandson passed away from leukemia at the age of 7? I heard that you were very distressed when you received the news during filming, but you continued to shoot until the end."
Han Jin-hee reflected, "I was very busy at that time. I was acting in three dramas. I didn’t want to say I was leaving due to personal issues, so I didn’t talk about it. I don’t know how it got out."
He continued, "If that grandson were alive now, he would have become a college student," but added, "This is not a matter for the broadcasting station; it’s my personal matter, so I have to bury it."
Han Jin-hee recalled that he had consulted fortune tellers about his grandson who was battling leukemia, saying, "When my grandson was fighting leukemia, I consulted 50 famous fortune tellers in our country, and they all said he would survive, but when I asked this (Lee Mi-young's nephew), he said he would die."
He added, "However, they said that when a younger sibling is born, he would become great. But my grandson passed away. A few years later, the younger sibling, a son, was born. Now he is in the 5th grade of elementary school, and he can do anything."
On that day, Han Jin-hee also revealed his passion for acting. He is working out hard, saying, "I want to play a villain boss," which caught attention.
He continued, "A boss shouldn’t talk. His face shouldn’t be shown much. Even if only the back of his head is shown, that’s fine. I want to try something like that," sharing his specific hopes.
Han Jin-hee debuted as a talent in TBC's 9th class in 1969. Since his debut, he has solidified his position as a middle-aged actor by appearing in numerous works such as 'Apgujeong Midnight', 'Come! Jang Bo-ri', 'Oja-ryong Goes to the World', 'Best Love', 'My Love, My Bride', and 'Geunchogo Wang'.
Han Jin-hee married Kim Soo-ok, a fellow talent from TBC's 7th class, and has two daughters. In August 2013, while appearing in SBS drama 'Room of Two Women' and MBC drama 'Gold, Come Out, Dduk-dak', he lost his 7-year-old grandson to acute leukemia.
