Kang Seung-yoon, a member of the group Winner, shared his thoughts on his discharge.
On the 19th, Kang Seung-yoon released a handwritten letter through the official fan platform Weverse.
Kang Seung-yoon wrote, “I still vividly remember the day I temporarily left your side, carrying a vague fear of an unfamiliar life and a bittersweet feeling about the intense first act, unprepared for the sweltering summer.”
He continued, “It was the first time I couldn’t show myself to you for such a long time, and I worried that we might drift apart as time passed. However, even during my military service, I was able to check the heartfelt messages you sent me at designated times, which allowed me to feel reassured and focus on my constructive military life every day.”
He added, “If it weren’t for your unwavering support every single day, I wouldn’t have been able to endure with a smile as much as I showed you. Although I didn’t express it, the light that helped me overcome the extreme experiences I faced and the limits I felt was solely you.” He expressed his gratitude to the fans.
Kang Seung-yoon also mentioned, “The pains that you and Winner have overcome together, those experiences helped me surpass my limits. Thanks to you, I was a happy soldier. Because of you, I was a soldier loved by my comrades. I am also looking forward to the new stories I will write, which have been refined and strengthened through various experiences, just as much as you are.”
He continued, “After enjoying a bit of everyday life, I plan to focus on completing about 10 songs, including sketches, aimed for a quick comeback in 2024, and work on creating even better music.”
Kang Seung-yoon stated, “I will do my best to show my face whenever there is a good opportunity for those who have been waiting. Thank you so much for waiting, missing me, and above all, for loving me. I want to express my gratitude as if I could gather all the feelings of thankfulness that exist in the world.”
Finally, he said, “I wanted to show my face even for a moment, but I hope you understand my desire not to be excited alone without the members. I will greet you soon while holding hands with Jinwoo, Seunghoon, and Minho. I will make sure to wear flower shoes.”
Kang Seung-yoon, who enlisted in the Army as an active-duty soldier in June last year, completed his military service and was discharged on this day. During his military service, he received recognition as an outstanding trainee and won awards for his reading essays and literary competitions, demonstrating exemplary behavior.
