Actor Bong Tae-kyu shared the secret to his villainous acting.
On the broadcast of MBC’s ‘Radio Star’ on the 1st, Bong Tae-kyu, Ok Ja-yeon, Song Eun-yi, Park So-ra, and Hwang Jung-hye appeared as guests.
On this day, Bong Tae-kyu explained why he signed a contract with a company run by Song Eun-yi instead of a specialized agency for actors, saying, “I had done a bit of entertainment shows. But being in an acting agency, there was no one to consult with when entertainment offers came in. So I occasionally discussed it with Song Eun-yi.”
He continued, “One day, Song Eun-yi said, ‘It would be nice if you joined our company and we could talk together.’ I asked, ‘Do you have any plans to manage actors aside from entertainment?’ and she replied, ‘I think it would be fun to work with you, even if it’s not the same for others.’ That caught my interest.”
Bong Tae-kyu said, “I signed a contract with Song Eun-yi because I had my own desires. I felt like something good would come out of it. So I signed, and shortly after, Song Eun-yi did an interview where the title was ‘No celebrity who chooses our company has done so to become famous.’ I joined to succeed, though,” he laughed.
When Song Eun-yi said, “We talked about letting go of greed and doing what we do well in a fun way,” Bong Tae-kyu expressed his satisfaction, saying, “Maybe that’s why, regardless of whether there’s work or not, I feel at ease.”
Meanwhile, Bong Tae-kyu mentioned the drama ‘Return,’ which brought him a second peak in his career. He said, “It was my first villain role. Since I didn’t have that kind of image, people were skeptical about my casting. But I thought I could do well. There’s a freshness that comes from the unexpected, right?”
Bong Tae-kyu noted that the aftermath of his first villain role in ‘Return’ was immense, saying, “My mother-in-law was watching it for fun and suddenly became worried. One day, she secretly called my wife and said, ‘I thought about it and looked it up on the internet, and they say that actors show their inherent nature when acting. No matter how I look at it, I’m worried about what Bong’s inner self is like.’”
When Kim Gu-ra mentioned, “I’ve heard that some actors relieve stress through villain roles,” Bong Tae-kyu replied, “At that time, my wife was pregnant with our second child. The first child would pick up on it and act out. Since my wife was pregnant, I took all of that. I held it in, but once I got to the set, my acting went well. It relieved my stress,” which drew laughter.
