As filmmakers have released a final statement demanding the resignation of President Yoon Seok-yeol, it has been revealed that Son Ye-jin, Kang Dong-won, and Jun Ji-hyun mentioned in the earlier statement are not the actors but namesakes.

On the 8th, the filmmakers (hereinafter referred to as the filmmakers) released a final statement titled “Remove and Arrest Yoon Seok-yeol, the Current Offender of Insurrection!” urging the removal and arrest of President Yoon.

This statement was joined by directors Park Chan-wook and Bong Joon-ho, as well as actors Moon So-ri and Go Min-si. It was revealed that the actors Son Ye-jin, Kang Dong-won, and Jun Ji-hyun, who were previously reported to have participated, did not actually take part in the statement. They were namesakes of production staff and audience members, leading to the misunderstanding.

In the statement, the filmmakers said, “The primary prerequisite for overcoming the current chaotic situation and restoring the fallen status of South Korea is to suspend Yoon Seok-yeol’s presidential duties. If impeachment is the quickest route, it should be chosen, and if there are other ways to remove him, the fastest path must be sought.”

They continued, “We warn the members of the National Assembly from the People Power Party who are engrossed in political engineering for regime recreation. Stopping Yoon Seok-yeol, the number one threat to South Korea and the leader of insurrection, from performing his presidential duties immediately is the way for South Korea to survive. Now, to the filmmakers of South Korea, Yoon Seok-yeol is no longer the president. He is merely a current offender of insurrection. We demand the swift suspension of Yoon Seok-yeol’s presidential duties and his removal and arrest.”

Meanwhile, on the 7th, a motion for impeachment against President Yoon Seok-yeol was put to a vote in the National Assembly, but it was discarded due to a lack of quorum. The impeachment motion requires a two-thirds majority of the total members (300), meaning 200 votes in favor, but only 195 members participated in the vote, leading to a declaration of “vote not established” without even counting the ballots.
