'Nothing Can Be Done' (directed by Park Chan-wook), which was invited to the competition section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and served as the opening film of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, has won the International Audience Award at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.
'Nothing Can Be Done' tells the story of 'Mansu' (Lee Byung-hun), an office worker who felt satisfied with life to the point of thinking he had achieved everything, suddenly getting fired and preparing for his own war towards re-employment to protect his wife and two children, as well as the hard-earned home he wants to keep.
'Nothing Can Be Done' won the International Audience Award at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, which concluded on September 14. This newly established award is given to the most popular film among international films, excluding those from Canada and the United States, based on audience votes. As it selects the favorite film of the audience ahead of the Oscar voting, the voting process is conducted with great enthusiasm.

Being the first recipient of the newly established 'International Audience Award', 'Nothing Can Be Done' holds special significance. As an award that proves the audience's enthusiastic response, it further solidifies the global presence of the desperate survival drama 'Nothing Can Be Done', which stimulates universal empathy.
Upon hearing the news of the award, director Park Chan-wook expressed, "I was not surprised by the award news because I saw and heard the audience's enthusiastic reactions in person during the official screening. The audience showed the desired reactions at every moment they wanted. The Toronto audience was the best in the world. I sincerely thank all the staff and volunteers."
'Nothing Can Be Done' is set to be released on September 24.
