The director of 'Spring Night', Kang Mi-ja, confessed about 'why it had to be Han Ye-ri.'
On the afternoon of the 3rd, a press screening for the movie 'Spring Night' took place at CGV Yongsan in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Kang Mi-ja, along with actors Han Ye-ri and Kim Seol-jin, attended the event to share various stories about the work.
In response to the question of 'why it had to be Han Ye-ri,' Director Kang Mi-ja opened up, saying, "In the past, when I had no intention of making a film, students in my class often brought up movies featuring Han Ye-ri. At that time, I liked her energy and feeling, and I thought that if I ever made a film, I would want to work with this actress."

Director Kang Mi-ja previously collaborated with Han Ye-ri in the 2009 film 'The Blue River Flows.' Regarding reuniting with Han Ye-ri after a long time for 'Spring Night,' Director Kang Mi-ja said, "We hadn't been in touch for a while, and I reached out for 'Spring Night.' It was difficult to express the emotions and ideals of the character Yeong-gyeong, but I thought there was no other actor like Han Ye-ri."
She continued, "I had a longing for my own feelings, but it was such a small film, and there was no external help like makeup or extra staff. It was a challenging task, but I was grateful that she responded just a week after I contacted her. She read the script and said it was wonderful, sad, and beautiful."
Han Ye-ri stated, "Kim Seol-jin and I were not sad during the filming. I thought we were passionately in love, and in the end, I felt that Su-hwan was receiving a lot of love. When I received the script, I thought it was a great melodrama," adding, "I hope people don't see the film only as something painful."
Meanwhile, 'Spring Night' is a poetic drama that depicts the tragic and pitiful love story of 'Yeong-gyeong' and 'Su-hwan,' who live in ruins with their wounds while facing death. Director Kang Mi-ja's 'Spring Night' is her first work in 15 years since 'The Blue River Flows,' and it has been invited to various prestigious film festivals, including the Forum section of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival and the Vision section of the 29th Busan International Film Festival, meeting many audiences. It will be released on the 7th.
