The expanded musical world of the group ONEUS has been unveiled.
ONEUS released their 11th mini album ‘5x’ on the 30th at 6 PM through various music streaming sites.
The 11th mini album ‘5x’ embodies ONEUS's infinite musical possibilities through the combination of the number ‘5’, representing the five members, and the variable ‘x’, which can take on any value. Like the variable ‘x’ that does not have a fixed answer, ONEUS breaks down their boundaries and announces the beginning of a new narrative.
The title track ‘X’ flips the conventional notions of music by prominently featuring a funky bass riff. By using melodic instruments solely as a source, ONEUS enhances the completeness of the track while inviting listeners into their expanded musical world.
ONEUS, wanting to leave a significant impact that surpasses their previous works, delivers an exciting energy that fits well with summer through ‘X’. In particular, the fun and bouncy melody that becomes instantly catchy provides a new feeling while leaving a strong impression of ONEUS's unique infinite charm.
The music video released alongside the track captures ONEUS traveling through space and infinity. The sensory visual aesthetics, reminiscent of a fashion film, add to the spectacle, while ONEUS's energetic group choreography catches the eye. The choreography for ‘X’ was supported by Renan, who created the dances for aespa’s ‘Whiplash’ and ‘Armageddon’, adding musical synergy.
With a minimal sound base, the simple yet impactful performance leaves a strong impression. The tightly woven formations and choreography provide continuous visual enjoyment, while the charm of the key dance points and killing parts heightens anticipation for the stage of ‘X’.
In addition, ‘5x’ includes five tracks in total, with members participating in the songwriting, such as the dreamy yet sharp ‘LOVE ME or LOSER’, which feels complete love from the gaps of loss, the intense depiction of unbreakable tension in silence with ‘RELOAD’, ‘BAD’, which moves towards a predetermined attraction even if one gets lost for a moment in the repetitive rotation, and the refreshing and mysterious emotional track ‘TIME MACHINE (Korean Ver.)’ that takes us back to our happy times.
