“I cried while tearing tissue in the bathroom.”
Broadcaster Jeong Seon-hee quietly shared the weight of emotions she has endured alone since her loss.
On the 24th, a video titled ‘A Day When Something Seems to Happen’ was released on Jeong Seon-hee's YouTube channel. In the travel video to Ganghwa Island, she reminisced about the difficult times in the past while eating a type of fish called 'bandeng-i'. She mentioned a quote from an Indian chief that she heard from Kim Je-dong, saying, “The wolf inside me, the growth of anger and forgiveness depends on the food I provide,” which has stayed with her.
However, she candidly revealed, “Sometimes, even if I don’t feed them, they grow among themselves. Anger also grows,” and added, “The desire for things to go wrong is ultimately rationalized for a reason.” She stated, “People draw their own conclusions and create reasons,” and did not hide the depths of her crumbled emotions.
“How much hardship must I have gone through?” she said, “I cried and cried in the bathroom, thinking about those XXs, saying I would get back at them,” bringing to light the narrative of survival that had been hidden behind her laughter.
Jeong Seon-hee married actor Ahn Jae-hwan in 2007, but experienced the pain of loss after her husband's sudden death in 2008. Behind her current strong smile are countless nights of tears and the 'inner wolf' she tried not to nurture.
