‘Our Ballad’ responds to viewers' enthusiastic reactions with another expanded broadcast.
The second episode of SBS music audition ‘Our Ballad’, airing on the 30th, will be expanded to 140 minutes. This special arrangement was made to introduce more participants' performances in depth, fueled by the hot response following the first broadcast.
Director Jung Ik-seung shared, “Many comments left on the stage videos right after the first broadcast remain memorable. Seeing people reminisce about times they can’t return to and names of those they miss while listening to the children's songs made me feel that this is the power of ballads.”
He added, “If treated with care, it becomes a more special story. We received an unprecedented special arrangement for two consecutive episodes to convey the performances of more children, so I ask for your continued support.”
‘Our Ballad’ recorded an average rating of 4.7% and a peak of 5.2% in the metropolitan area during its first episode, ranking first in its time slot and making a strong start. The 2049 rating also reached 1.1%, proving the public's high interest in the group audition selected by the top 150.
On Netflix’s ‘Today’s Series’, it entered the TOP 5 on its release day and climbed to the TOP 3 on the second day, demonstrating explosive interest and remarkable performance. Despite a runtime of 160 minutes for the first episode, the authenticity and immersive composition of the participants, averaging 18.2 years old, captivated OTT viewers. Additionally, it ranked first in the entertainment category on another OTT platform, Wave, right after the broadcast.
Following TV and OTT, the digital platform is also seeing a hot response. The clip of ‘For You’ sung by Jeju Girl’s Lee Ye-ji dominated major platforms like YouTube, Reels, and TikTok within two days of its release, surpassing a total of 3 million views and signaling the birth of a major star.
In the first round, Lee Ye-ji moved Cha Tae-hyun to tears with ‘For You’ by Lim Jae-bum, earning 146 votes and advancing to the second round as the current highest vote-getter. Song Ji-woo received 143 votes for ‘Like the Way You Sent Me Off with a Smile’ by Lee Eun-ha, and Cheon Beom-seok got 130 votes for ‘In Place’ by Jung Seung-hwan, both advancing to the next round. Lee Jun-seok, Lee Ji-hoon, Min Soo-hyun, and Hong Seung-min also showcased emotionally stirring performances and tasted the joy of passing.
After the first episode aired, online comments such as “The impact and resonance of the pure voices of children are profound” and “Just listening to the songs brings back memories of those wistful times” have been pouring in as warm praise for the program. This has heightened expectations for what performances will unfold in the second episode, which will last 140 minutes.
