Director Park Chan-wook reminisced about his days of anonymity.
On the 24th, Park Chan-wook and Lee Byung-hun appeared as guests on tvN's ‘You Quiz on the Block’.
On this day, Director Park Chan-wook recalled his 8 years of anonymity before the success of the film ‘Joint Security Area (JSA)’. He said, “I lived as a critic. I wrote articles and appeared on broadcasts. I even ran a video rental store. It was during the time when video stores were popular.”
Director Park mentioned that he is a member of a group called ‘Pride and Slander’ along with directors Bong Joon-ho and Ryu Seung-wan, explaining, “It was a gathering of people going through tough times, watching movies and having meals together.”
He continued, “There were popular seniors and colleagues. When their movies were released, we would go watch them and say, ‘Is that all they can do?’ or ‘How can they not make a good film like that?’ We vented our frustrations over drinks,” which drew laughter.
Meanwhile, ‘You Quiz on the Block’ airs every Wednesday at 8:45 PM.
