Broadcaster and entrepreneur Hyun-young revealed that she is struggling to become an elite mom.
On the 9th, Hyun-young appeared as a guest on SBS ‘Take Off Your Shoes and Dolsing Po Man’ along with Choi Hong-man, Lee Hyun, and Shim Eut-dum.
On that day, Hyun-young mentioned that all her in-laws graduated from Seoul National University, saying, “To be honest, I didn’t know at first when I got married. I knew my in-laws were from Seoul National University, but there was a gravestone that caught my eye while visiting the family grave. As I read the names of those who graduated from Seoul National University, I thought, ‘Is this for real?’”
When Tak Jae-hoon teased, “With that background, I bet your in-laws wanted a daughter-in-law from Seoul National University. How did you get married so recklessly?” Hyun-young laughed and replied, “My father-in-law really liked me even before we got married. On the day we first met, he said, ‘How did someone like this come to our house?’ and was happy.”
Hyun-young revealed that she was the one who proposed first. She said, “The guys I dated before usually asked me to marry them. But when I told my husband, ‘Let’s get married,’ he said, ‘We can’t.’ So I asked, ‘Why can’t we? We can get married.’ As I kept persuading him, before I knew it, we were married.”
Regarding why her husband initially rejected the marriage proposal, Hyun-young speculated, “I think he was being clever. He probably thought that if he asked me to marry him first, I might refuse.”
On another note, Hyun-young mentioned that she conducts parent-teacher consultations for her children attending international school in English. When Tak Jae-hoon asked, “Do you bring a translation app on your phone?” Hyun-young joked, “Sometimes I do.”
She continued, “I memorize what I want to ask in advance. If the native teacher’s explanation gets longer than I intended, I just say ‘YES’ anyway,” which drew laughter.
