As discussions are underway for content to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the tvN drama ‘Reply 1988’ (hereafter ‘Reply 1988’), interest in the attendance of the actors is also rising.

A representative from Egg Is Coming stated on the 13th to Maeil Business Star Today, “It is true that we are discussing content to commemorate the 10th anniversary of ‘Reply 1988’, but the details have not been finalized.”

Along with this, interest in the possibility of the actors' attendance has increased. This is because Hyeri and Ryu Jun-yeol, who met through ‘Reply 1988’ and publicly dated for six years from 2017 until their breakup in 2023, are the main characters of the work.

While there were speculations about the two reuniting through the content, according to multiple sources, Hyeri will attend, while Ryu Jun-yeol will not. It is reported that Ryu Jun-yeol's absence is due to filming for the new Netflix project ‘The Mouse’.

Meanwhile, ‘Reply 1988’ is a comedic family drama that captures the lively daily lives of five families in a neighborhood in Ssangmun-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul, during the year 1988, known as the year of the double eight.

As the third installment of the ‘Reply’ series following ‘Reply 1997’ and ‘Reply 1994’, it achieved the highest ratings in the series with a peak of 18.8% (based on Nielsen Korea's paid broadcasting households).

In particular, the theme of ‘finding a husband’, which is a major storyline of the work, led to the creation of terms like ‘Eo Nam Ryu’ (the husband is Ryu Jun-yeol anyway) and ‘Eo Nam Taek’ (the husband is Choi Taek (played by Park Bo-gum anyway)), creating a syndrome.

In addition to Hyeri, Ryu Jun-yeol, and Park Bo-gum, ‘Reply 1988’ featured performances from Sung Dong-il, Lee Il-hwa, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Sung-kyun, Kim Sun-young, Choi Moo-sung, Yoo Jae-myung, Ryu Hye-young, Ahn Jae-hong, Choi Sung-won, Lee Min-ji, and others.

As Egg Is Coming, which produced the script by Lee Woo-jung and directed by Shin Won-ho PD, is discussing commemorative content, expectations are high for what kind of content will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the airing.
