The K-pop competition program 'Under Fifteen', which sparked controversy over child sexualization, was set to be broadcast in Japan under a new name, but it has ultimately been canceled.

A KBS official recently stated, “KBS Japan, a subsidiary of KBS, has ultimately canceled the scheduling of 'A Star is Born'.”

Initially, KBS Japan was scheduled to air 'A Star is Born - The Story of Girls Chasing Dreams' on the 11th of this month.

The Japanese satellite broadcasting platform Skapa! had also announced that 'A Star is Born' would be aired on the KBS World channel operated by KBS Japan.

The program description stated it was “the world's first K-pop star discovery project for those under 15,” featuring appearances by Big Bang's Daesung, 2NE1's Sandara Park, and others.

However, following the news of 'Under Fifteen' being aired in Japan, criticism grew domestically, leading to the decision to cancel the broadcast.

'Under Fifteen' is a global K-pop aspirant competition program that recruited female participants under the age of 15 from around the world, which caused controversy.
