A YouTuber who reported suffering from rude service after visiting a restaurant featured as a popular spot in Yeosu called 'Ttoganjip' has received an apology from the restaurant.
On the 22nd, the YouTuber Yoonani Today posted on the YouTube bulletin board, "Hello. I am posting this late to quickly inform those who are curious."
He explained, "I received an apology from Baekgeum Restaurant in the evening. After receiving it, many thoughts and feelings crossed my mind," adding, "The numerous media inquiries and the unexpected attention and interest were quite burdensome and difficult for me. I believe the restaurant feels the same way."
He further added, "The restaurant sent me a heartfelt apology via email, and the message contained their deep reflections and feelings of regret."
Yoonani Today also stated, "I know that those who showed interest in this matter thought of it as their own, and there are still many questions that won't be easily forgotten. However, since they sincerely apologized, I do not wish to continue the confrontation," expressing, "I want to wrap this matter up here."
He continued, "I will not forget the warm comfort given to me by those who empathized with my experience of dining alone, which everyone has gone through at least once, and the unpleasant experiences at famous tourist spots. I will show a better side of myself," thanking the netizens who offered their support.
Previously, this YouTuber visited a restaurant introduced as a popular spot in the satirical web entertainment show 'Ttoganjip'. He had received permission to film a food video showing only his face, ordered two servings, and began filming from a corner.
After introducing the menu, the YouTuber turned off the camera and started eating, but suddenly turned the camera back on. The restaurant owner expressed annoyance, saying, "Our restaurant doesn't just have one girl coming in. Hurry up and eat. If you keep this up, it will be endless. It's infinite," to which the YouTuber replied, "It doesn't take long to eat." The owner then insisted, "I need to seat the reserved customers. I'm sorry, but we can't do that."
The flustered YouTuber said with a smile, "I've only been here for 20 minutes. Didn't I order two servings?" but the owner retorted, "So? With that 20,000 won. You can just eat and leave," giving him another hint.
After the video was released, it spread across social media and online communities, leading to a growing controversy, prompting Yeosu City to conduct administrative guidance, including service training and hygiene inspections at the establishment on the 17th.
In response to the controversy, the restaurant claimed that the YouTuber filmed without consent and that misunderstandings arose due to his loud voice, which sparked further debate. Additionally, a person presumed to be the restaurant owner's son commented on YouTube, "Isn't it wrong to go alone when ordering for two or more? My mother is struggling. Was it wrong for me to leave the restaurant?" and argued, "It's not a seating fee, and even if we charge for two, is it right to give two servings to one person? Should we serve two portions to one person until they burst?" which drew further criticism.
The controversy even spilled over to the satire show. The 'Ttoganjip' team met with Yoonani Today on the 19th via YouTube, listened to the circumstances at the time, and promised to revisit Yeosu soon to introduce the restaurant.
