Actor Hwang In-hyuk shared his current status as a shaman after 26 years.
In an episode of MBN's 'Special Report World' aired on the afternoon of the 22nd, he revealed, “I am currently working as an exorcist. I received a divine calling in 2003.”

Hwang In-hyuk shared, “It was 25-26 years ago, but when I lay down to sleep, a general or a grim reaper would come and stand by. I even went to a mental hospital. I wanted to die. I tried taking tranquilizers, but I had side effects. It was so painful. I felt sorry for my parents,” explaining the reason he left his acting career to pursue the path of a shaman.
As he began a new life, he faced another hardship. As a father of one son and one daughter, he said, “When my eldest daughter was young, there was an incident at her daycare. They said, ‘How can a shaman's daughter come here?’ and ‘Please don’t let her play with our daughter.’ They spread rumors all over the neighborhood, and it caused a huge uproar. We even had to move.”
He expressed his frustration, saying, “What’s wrong with me being a shaman? What does my being a shaman have to do with my children? Just because I am a shaman, my children might suffer.”

He had not even shared this fact with his mother, stating, “Even after receiving the divine calling, I hid the shrine. I kept the shrine hidden and locked the door. But one day, the door somehow opened. My mother came to clean and bring side dishes, and when she saw that room, she fainted.”
Active in dramas such as KBS 2TV's 'Look Back with Angry Faces' and 'Cool' from the 1990s to the early 2000s, he began to sense a different fate after suffering from insomnia following his appearance in a Chuseok special drama in 2002. Ultimately, he received a divine calling in 2003 and began his life as a shaman, gaining attention in 2010 when he appeared on tvN's 'Exorcist' and showcased exorcism procedures to treat possessed patients.
