Seohyun faced the biggest crisis of her life due to the absence of the male lead, Ok Taekyeon, in her novel life.
In the 11th episode of KBS2's Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘The Male Lead's First Night’ (directed by Lee Woong-hee and Kang Soo-yeon, written by Jeon Seon-young), the news of the male lead's (played by Ok Taekyeon) death brought a fierce upheaval to the life of the supporting character (played by Seohyun), shaking the direction of the fantasy romance.
The supporting character discovered an identical keyring to the one she had before her possession in her room and showed signs of distress before collapsing. Afterward, she learned that the past supporting character had received that item from the shaman Seolgi (played by Kim Ah-young) after expressing that “life is boring,” revealing that it was a crucial medium that swapped the souls of reality college student K and the supporting character, both of whom were bored with their lives.
Meanwhile, the supporting character received the news that the male lead had lost his life due to an enemy ambush. Unable to confirm the body herself, she reassured herself that “the male lead doesn’t die easily,” but upon reading a letter from him confessing his fear of leaving behind his beloved, she crumbled.
In the royal court, the ambitions of Prince Lee Gyu (played by Lee Tae-sun) began to stir in earnest. As he kept watch over the ailing king, he gained the king's trust and successfully persuaded him to name him as the next ruler. Later, when a minister mentioned Gyeongseong-gun as a suitable candidate for the throne, he executed a swift punishment, revealing his tyrannical nature for daring to speak against the royal decree.
Lee Gyu's unrestrained ambition extended into personal realms as well. He proposed marriage to the supporting character, who had requested a search, and when she refused, he framed her father, Cha Ho-yeol (played by Seo Hyun-cheol), with the Black Death Society. He coldly smiled at the supporting character, saying, “This is the path you chose,” as she pleaded her innocence.
Just as the blade was aimed at the supporting character, the screen suddenly transitioned to reality. The supporting character, who had bounced out of the novel, faced college student K, and it was revealed that the two had been living in each other's bodies, shocking them both. The supporting character, who was merely a supporting role, emerged as the female lead, and the novel was newly serialized, with the shocking news that the server was currently down reached college student K.
A suspicious little boy (played by Lee Joo-won) appeared before them. The little boy, who is the Moonlight Old Man and a novelist, stated that the current story was written by the supporting character, who had the soul of college student K, and offered a chance to write the next scene in just three sentences, piquing their curiosity.
At the moment when everything depended on the supporting character's choice, the story unfolded again at her fingertips. With the line “A fly lands on the face of a scoundrel,” the supporting character overcame the crisis and immediately shouted a proverb related to the Black Death Society, creating an opportunity to face Lee Gyu alone. She pointed out that the Black Death Society, originally created to restrain the tyrant, had now lost its meaning and had become corrupted, shaking Lee Gyu's heart.
Despite the supporting character's efforts, Lee Gyu threatened her again, insisting on taking her to his quarters. And at that moment, the one who appeared was none other than the male lead. With the return of the familiar face thought to be dead, curiosity about how he came back to life is growing.
The final episode of ‘The Male Lead's First Night’ will air today (17th) at 9:50 PM.
