The schedule for 'Modern Biography: Mr. Lee', hosted by Lee Kyung-kyu, has been changed and will air today (1st).
In the TV Chosun cultural program 'Modern Biography: Mr. Lee', airing at 10 PM on the 1st, the focus will be on the shocking reality of two female criminals, Um In-sook and Go Yu-jeong, who have thrown South Korea into turmoil. To uncover the details of their brutal crimes while incarcerated at Cheongju Women's Prison, Detective Lee Dae-woo, with 37 years of police experience, will join as a special guest.
Um In-sook, who murdered her ex-husband and husband to collect insurance money, even causing family members to go blind. In February 2005, the horrific details of her insurance fraud were revealed. Over a span of five years, she killed three people, including her remarried husband and ex-husband, and inflicted injuries or caused blindness to seven others, including her biological mother and brothers.
The purpose of all these crimes was 'insurance money'. The tools of Um In-sook's horrific crimes were none other than 'matches, drugs, and a dress pin'. She drugged the victims to make them dazed, then injured them or stabbed their eyes with a dress pin, leading to blindness, and attempted to destroy evidence through arson.
According to acquaintances, Um In-sook had a strong desire to show off and had unusual spending habits, such as spending 100,000 won on taxi fare just to buy porridge she wanted. An ex-inmate from Cheongju Women's Prison stated, "Um In-sook herself stabbed her left eye, causing it to collapse." MC Lee Kyung-kyu expressed surprise, asking, "Was this also an act aimed at insurance money?"
Next, the program will examine the mysterious crimes of Go Yu-jeong, the perpetrator of the 'murder case without a body' that caused a stir in South Korea in 2019. Before murdering her ex-husband, Go Yu-jeong displayed meticulous behavior by searching for 'how to cook gamjatang' and 'Jeju sea trash' for body disposal. She exploited her ex-husband's desire to see their son by pretending to arrange visitation, luring him to her accommodation and mixing a sleeping pill into curry before committing the crime.
When her son saw Go Yu-jeong covered in blood and asked, "Mom, what are you doing?" she calmly lied, saying, "I'm playing with paint," which infuriated Director Kim Hyun-woo, who exclaimed, "Is she even human?" The program will reveal how she is currently living while incarcerated.
'Modern Biography', which aired every Sunday, has changed its schedule following the conclusion of 'Dad and Me' on the 24th of last month, taking its place. Starting from 10 PM on the 1st, it is scheduled to air every Tuesday at 10 PM.
