The 'National Diva' Insuni revealed a different human side from her stage charisma on ‘Four-Person Table’.
On the 16th, Insuni appeared on Channel A's ‘Close Friends Documentary - Four-Person Table’ alongside singers Park Sang-min and Park Gu-yoon, sharing deep friendship and honest life stories with Jeong Hoon-hee.
Insuni and Jeong Hoon-hee have been close friends for 51 years since before their debut. Jeong Hoon-hee expressed his affection for Insuni, saying, “I was a fan of Insuni from the moment she stepped onto the stage to become a singer. People can talk about various things with friends or comrades, but it’s really hard to reveal their less favorable sides. However, Insuni and I talk about everything without hiding anything.” He continued, “She is a younger sister with whom I can share what’s inside. We have a loving relationship.”
In response, Insuni said, “Jeong Hoon-hee is everyone's diva. The diva of divas. She is a diva, but to me, she is a role model and a teacher.” expressing her respect.
On that day, the meal was prepared by Jeong Hoon-hee's husband, singer Kim Tae-hwa, which caught attention. During the meal, Park Sang-min asked, “Do you often cook, brother?” Jeong Hoon-hee replied with a smile, “I want to eat something, but the only person who knows how to cook is me, so I make food for the kids and myself.”
In this conversation, Insuni candidly shared, “I wish my husband would change like that. In the early days of our marriage, I tried to cook at home to feed my husband, but I could only make kimchi stew and soybean paste stew. After cooking, he would always say it was lacking and add MSG? That really hurt my feelings, sister.”
Coincidentally, the filming day was also Park Sang-min's birthday. Park Gu-yoon distributed cake, and when Insuni asked, “Why are you giving me the big one?” Park Gu-yoon replied, “Because you’re pretty,” to which Insuni humorously responded, “Is that a hint to gain weight?” causing laughter.
Jeong Hoon-hee added, “As you get older, diabetes comes the fastest. You need to be careful from now on,” and Insuni laughed, saying, “I’m going to eat this and run, sister. It feels like I’m exercising just because I want to eat.”
Insuni also recalled that after a fight with her husband, the first place she went was Jeong Hoon-hee's concert hall, saying, “I waited until the end of the concert and then said, ‘Sister, my husband is like this...’” which reminded everyone of their deep friendship.
Additionally, Insuni, who accompanied the late Hyun-cheol on his last journey, expressed, “During our debut and activities, genres were not distinguished. He was someone I always met on stage, but I wasn’t very sociable, so I couldn’t approach him to talk, just greeting him. Still, we stood on the same stage for decades, and it must have been so sad for him to pass away, leaving behind those glorious days.” She conveyed her heartfelt emotions, stating, “Every time our seniors passed away, I arranged a hearse for them. Those people deserve to be treated well. When this country was struggling, we gained hope because of them, and honestly, it upset me to just let them go.” revealing her sincere tribute to her seniors.
Meanwhile, Insuni recently released a new song titled ‘Foolish Stupid Dog’ and continues her active career. She still shows her unwavering presence on stage and maintains precious meetings with her fans.
