Former swimmer Park Tae-hwan expressed his filial piety towards his mother.
In the KBS2 broadcast of ‘New Menu Launch Restaurant’ on the 13th, Park Tae-hwan's daily life was depicted.
On that day, Park Tae-hwan revealed, “My routine as an active athlete started at 4 AM and ended at 10 PM. I lived like that for over 30 years. I was always whipped without any carrots.” To this, Hyo-jung admired, “Your mental strength is remarkable.”
Park Tae-hwan cited his mother as the reason he could endure the grueling training. He said, “My mother struggled with cancer when I was young. It wasn’t about becoming the best in South Korea through swimming. I thought I had to do everything I could for my parents. Even when it was so hard that I felt like my heart would burst, I thought my pain was nothing compared to my mother’s suffering (from cancer),” evoking deep emotions.
Park Tae-hwan added, “Many people ask me, ‘When were you the happiest?’ Of course, I felt the best when I was at the highest point. However, I was happiest when I gave my parents a house and a car, regardless of rankings,” drawing attention.
Meanwhile, ‘New Menu Launch Restaurant’ airs every Friday at 8:30 PM.
