‘Pyeon Restaurant’ Jang Shin-young reveals a super cost-effective beef meal.
In the episode airing on the 6th, KBS2’s ‘New Launch Pyeon Restaurant’ (hereafter ‘Pyeon Restaurant’) will feature thrifty housewife Jang Shin-young sharing a beef recipe that can be enjoyed for just 5,000 won per serving. In this era of high prices, attention is focused on Jang Shin-young's secret weapon that allows a family of five to enjoy beef abundantly for about two weeks.
In the VCR, Jang Shin-young pulled out two massive pieces of beef. The enormous size of the beef filled the large cutting board, making the ‘Pyeon Restaurant’ crew's eyes widen. Jang Shin-young introduced it as “meat bought from a large supermarket,” saying it was “cost-effective beef short ribs.” The two pieces of beef short ribs weighed 2.5 kg and cost 60,000 won, which breaks down to about 5,000 won per serving.
Before starting the cooking, Jang Shin-young began preparing the beef. While beef preparation is not easy without professional skills, Jang Shin-young equipped herself with dual knives and skillfully started cutting. She mentioned, “I learned by watching YouTube, and it’s not as difficult as I thought,” while sharing some handy tips for preparing beef along the way. After a few cuts, the two massive pieces of beef were neatly separated into steak cuts, soup cuts, and side dish portions according to the grain.
Next, Jang Shin-young's parade of super cost-effective beef dishes began. The steak looked as good as a high-end restaurant menu, along with a special soup that could be found in a traditional Korean restaurant, and two types of addictive beef side dishes that rivaled soy sauce marinated crab and seasoned crab. The two beef side dishes, completed with Jang Shin-young's smart and innovative recipes, piqued curiosity.
