Actress Im Seong-eon has become embroiled in a fraud controversy surrounding her husband just a week after their wedding.
On the 26th, Dispatch reported that Im Seong-eon’s husband is described as an 'apartment development fraudster' and raised suspicions about his fraudulent activities.
Im Seong-eon married a businessman known as Mr. Lee on the 17th at a location in Seoul. Only family and close acquaintances attended the wedding. Dispatch noted that the wedding took place at a luxury hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, and even featured wreaths from prominent politicians, indicating that the couple's marriage was unusual.
The media pointed out that Mr. Lee did not put down his phone during the wedding ceremony, explaining that this was due to calls from creditors seeking to collect money from him.
Dispatch raised suspicions regarding Mr. Lee's alleged involvement in apartment development fraud. It was also reported that he has a criminal record with three previous convictions and is currently facing charges of fraud, breach of trust, embezzlement, obstruction of business, and concealment of property. Additionally, it was pointed out that this is not his first marriage, and he is using his marriage to the celebrity Im Seong-eon to elevate his status.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that the couple's honeymoon destination is Jeju Island, which is attributed to a travel ban imposed on Mr. Lee.
In relation to this, Im Seong-eon’s agency, Dawoo Entertainment, has stated that they will look into the matter.
Im Seong-eon debuted in 2002 with the KBS2 drama 'Always Thumping' and gained popularity that same year through the hit variety show KBS2 'Mountain Lodge Meeting - War of Roses.' Recently, she has been engaging with the public through the play 'Pink Lipstick.'
