Actor Jo Jung-seok won the Best Actor Award in the film category at the ‘Baeksang Arts Awards’.
The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards took place on the evening of the 5th at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. The awards recognize the best works and actors in the fields of broadcasting (TV), film, and theater for the first half of 2024 and 2025. The event was hosted by broadcaster Shin Dong-yeop, actress and singer Suzy, and actor Park Bo-gum.
On this day, Jo Jung-seok received the Best Actor Award for the film ‘Pilot’. The movie is a comedy about ‘Han Jung-woo’, a star pilot who suddenly becomes unemployed and successfully re-employs himself after a dramatic transformation.
Jo Jung-seok expressed, “I didn’t expect this. Personally, this work was a challenge. I was worried if I could do well, and I wondered if it was a reckless challenge,” and added, “I continued to have faith and worked with everyone, and it feels great to have that recognized, rather than it being a reckless challenge. I am very grateful.” He also said, “Thank you to the audience. I will become an actor who continues to challenge myself.”
The Baeksang Arts Awards is an award ceremony established in 1965 to promote the development of Korean popular culture and arts and to boost the morale of artists. It is a comprehensive arts award that honors the production teams and performers in the TV, film, and theater categories that have aired or screened over the past year.
The theme of this year’s Baeksang Arts Awards is ‘Towards, Sailing’. It embodies the meaning of supporting the development of popular culture and arts that are moving towards the world beyond Korea and the journey of sailing.
