Actress Kim Tae-ri has won the Best Actress Award in the television category at the 'Baeksang Arts Awards'.
The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards took place on the evening of the 5th at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. The awards recognize the best works and actors in the television, film, and theater categories for the first half of 2024 and 2025. The event was hosted by broadcaster Shin Dong-yeop, actress and singer Suzy, and actor Park Bo-gum.
On this day, Kim Tae-ri became the recipient of the Best Actress Award for her role in 'My Name' (tvN).
'My Name' is set in the aftermath of the Korean War in the 1950s, depicting the competition, solidarity, and brilliant growth of 'Jung Myung', a 'born sound genius' who challenges to become the best national opera actor.
Kim Tae-ri opened her speech by saying, "I have passed through a period of deep light and darkness that could not be fully captured, and I still respect and thank our teachers for being in that place."
She continued, "I feel embarrassed that there are shortcomings in receiving such a great award, but I have tried not to compromise. Nevertheless, I think of the shortcomings as a romance, which reflects my desire to do better next time. I will strive to be an actress who can use this as motivation to move forward."
She also expressed, "I hope the staff who have supported me with love, affection, passion, and responsibility in unseen places, the co-stars, and the viewers will continue to watch our sound and movements."
The Baeksang Arts Awards, established in 1965, is a comprehensive arts award that honors the production teams and performers in the television, film, and theater categories that have aired or screened over the past year, aimed at promoting the development of Korean popular culture and uplifting artists' spirits.
This year's theme for the Baeksang Arts Awards is 'Sailing Forward'. It embodies the meaning of supporting the development and journey of popular culture and arts that are moving beyond Korea to the world.
