Actress Go Yoon-jung revealed the story of how she transitioned from an art student to an actress.
On the broadcast of tvN's entertainment program ‘You Quiz on the Block’ on the 30th of last month, Go Yoon-jung, who gained popularity with the drama ‘Once Upon a Time in the Medical Field’ (hereafter referred to as ‘Unseuljeon’), appeared as a guest.
Go Yoon-jung first gained recognition through her acting profile and TV commercials. Netizens were amazed by her beauty, reacting with comments like “Is she really a person?” and “She’s so perfect that I thought she was AI.” In response, Go Yoon-jung said, “It was amazing how they made me look prettier than in real life.”
Go Yoon-jung, who is in her sixth year of debut, revealed that her dream was not originally to become an actress. As an art student, she said, “I majored in Western painting. While attending university, my sister, who studied photography, suggested I try modeling for a college magazine, and I received a response a few days later and did the cover shoot. After that, I heard that a management company contacted my department office.”
She continued, “I had never thought about this path, so I said, ‘I’m sorry.’ I asked them not to contact me, but somehow the person who got in touch is now my representative,” adding, “At that time, my representative said, ‘Why don’t you try it before saying you can’t do it? Just give it a shot.’ I thought, ‘That makes sense?’ and took a leave of absence to take acting classes and attend an academy.”
Go Yoon-jung's first audition as she entered the acting world was for the movie ‘Parasite.’ She auditioned for the role played by actress Jung Ji-so, who was the daughter of Cho Yeo-jeong and a student being tutored by Choi Woo-shik, named Da-hye.
Go Yoon-jung said, “I don’t clearly remember the audition as it felt like a dream, and it was fascinating like seeing a celebrity. (Director Bong Joon-ho) told me I resembled senior actress Cho Yeo-jeong. I was one of the final candidates because I hoped to resemble her as her daughter,” drawing attention.
Starting with her first audition for ‘Parasite,’ Go Yoon-jung established herself as a ‘rising star’ through projects like ‘Sweet Home,’ ‘Alchemy of Souls,’ and ‘Moving.’
She expressed her growing enjoyment in acting, saying, “I feel more excited than worried about the next set. Even though I wanted to rest because I couldn’t sleep while filming every day, after four days off, I wanted to work again. It’s fun to act intensely with my colleagues and create something together.”
