The production team of ‘Good Boy’ has revealed the script rehearsal scene.
The rehearsal photos for the new JTBC weekend drama ‘Good Boy’ (written by Lee Dae-il, directed by Shim Na-yeon), released on the 30th, feature director Shim Na-yeon, writer Lee Dae-il, and actors Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, Oh Jung-se, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, Tae Won-seok, Seo Hyun-cheol, Jung Man-sik, Park Cheol-min, Seo Jeong-yeon, and Seo Jae-hee, showcasing a lineup of trustworthy actors.
Even in the first rehearsal, the actors fully immersed themselves in their respective characters, oscillating between cheerful laughter, sharp confrontations, and the thrill of a sprite shower, building the unique and exhilarating world of ‘Good Boy’.
First, Park Bo-gum, playing the role of ‘Yoon Dong-joo’, a police officer in the special investigation team and a former boxing gold medalist, showcased a powerful presence. With a clear charisma and a burning sense of justice, Dong-joo's face radiated a new energy not previously seen from Park Bo-gum. His solid gaze and voice overwhelmed the scene even in the first rehearsal, raising expectations for the refreshing narrative to come.
Kim So-hyun, who plays ‘Ji Han-na’, a police officer in the special investigation team and a former shooting gold medalist, also displayed a bold and confident charm that was on a different level from her previous roles. Her determined personality, which moves forward without hesitation towards her goals, and the hidden warm heart behind her cold exterior captivated everyone on set. Most notably, her transformation, which adds firearms to her previous skills with bows and swords, heightened expectations for Kim So-hyun's refreshing action scenes.
Oh Jung-se, portraying the ‘bad boy’ Min Joo-young, who is a customs officer by day and the shadow controlling the city of Inseong by night, maximized the tension. He expressed the chilling aura of evil hidden behind the face of an ordinary public servant with great depth, making it clear why villains played by Oh Jung-se are on a different level, sending shivers down the spine. This moment heightened anticipation for not only the intense battle between good and evil but also the fiery acting showdown.
Lee Sang-yi, another ‘Good Boy’, takes on the role of ‘Kim Jong-hyun’, a police officer in the special investigation team and a former fencing silver medalist, hinting at sharp suppression action. He is expected to showcase a solid performance that combines intelligence and physical strength, revealing a hidden toughness within his softness as he moves within the team.
Heo Sung-tae, playing ‘Go Man-sik’, the team leader of the special investigation team and a former wrestling bronze medalist, showcased his unique ability to deliver realistic and relatable performances. He immediately established himself as a key character responsible for bringing laughter and warmth. Tae Won-seok joined as ‘Shin Jae-hong’, a police officer in the special investigation team and a former discus throw bronze medalist, boasting a heavy presence. With a strong physique and warm gaze, he garnered expectations with his strong yet gentle charm.
Thus, the five ‘Good Boys’ displayed perfect chemistry that belied their first rehearsal, showcasing teamwork worthy of the name ‘Good Avengers’. Throughout the rehearsal, they exchanged perfect agreement and tikitaka with just their gazes and breaths, pouring out a refreshing sprite shower that eradicates injustice. The intense energy within this fantastic team play is expected to amplify the thrilling fun unique to ‘Good Boy’.
The irreplaceable acting skills of the golden supporting cast are also ‘good’. Seo Hyun-cheol plays ‘Hwang Kyung-cheol’, the head of the police department and a close friend of Man-sik, while Jung Man-sik plays ‘Oh Jong-goo’, a former boxing national team coach and representative of J9 Security, adding flawless completeness.
Additionally, Park Cheol-min plays ‘Kim Geum-nam’, a famous informant who has a keen eye on the dynamics of Inseong City and is the owner of a pawn shop, Seo Jeong-yeon plays ‘Jung Mi-ja’, the owner of a noodle shop entangled with Dong-joo, and Seo Jae-hee plays ‘Jin Kyung-sook’, Han-na's mother and an insurance salesperson, all set to deliver performances that leave no room for even 1% of holes in the plot.
The production team stated, “From the first rehearsal, the actors completely immersed themselves in their characters. The thrilling energy of ‘Good Boy’, where laughter, tension, action, and the growing pains of youth erupt together, came alive on set. The story of these characters, who passionately race towards a justice more valuable than gold medals, will deliver a catharsis that transcends wounds and defeats, showering the living room with refreshing sprite showers. Please look forward to it.”
