Actor and singer Yook Sungjae and Kim Jiyeon discussed their acting activities.

On the 17th, a production presentation for the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Gwigung’ (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik) was held at SBS Hall located in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Yoon Sung-sik, actors Yook Sungjae, Kim Jiyeon, and Kim Ji-hoon. The event was hosted by broadcaster Park Kyung-rim.

‘Gwigung’ is a fantasy romantic comedy about a shaman named Yeori (Kim Jiyeon) who rejects the fate of a medium, and her first love, Yoon Gap (Yook Sungjae), who is trapped in the body of the Imugi, Gangcheol-i (Yook Sungjae), as they confront the vengeful spirit of the royal family. It tells the story of the love between the evil god Gangcheol-i, who could not become a dragon, and the shaman Yeori, while also featuring various spirits from folklore.

Yook Sungjae and Kim Jiyeon are both actors who started as members of BTOB and WJSN, respectively. Regarding balancing group and solo activities, Yook Sungjae expressed, “I want to be recognized for not lacking in historical drama acting and for being able to handle it well. I will take on solo activities (acting) with a sense of responsibility. In a team, the burden is shared, but in a drama, I have to do well on my own, bring out more, and push beyond my limits, so I feel I need to do even better.”

Kim Jiyeon shared the same sentiment as Yook Sungjae, saying, “As an actress, I want to be recognized as someone who can handle various genres and is a versatile actress.”

The ‘fresh acting combination’ of Yook Sungjae, Kim Jiyeon, and Kim Ji-hoon is generating high expectations. Yook Sungjae plays Yoon Gap, the first love of Yeori and the shaman possessed by the evil god Imugi, while Kim Jiyeon plays Yeori, who rejects the fate of a shaman and lives as a craftsman of glasses.

Director Yoon Sung-sik, known for his reliable and entertaining works such as ‘Mr. Queen’, ‘The Great King Sejong’, ‘Gaksital’, and ‘Dae Jo Yeong’, has teamed up with writer Yoon Soo-jung, who penned ‘The King's Face’ and ‘Boldly Go Go’.

SBS's new drama ‘Gwigung’ will premiere on the 18th at 9:50 PM.
