Singer Shin Se-ryeong revealed her unfortunate story of making a living by collecting scrap.

On the 10th, the MBN cultural program ‘Exclusive World’ aired the daily life of singer Shin Se-ryeong.

On that day, Shin Se-ryeong was seen wearing a hot pink jacket and a mini skirt while collecting scrap, which caught attention. She was doing this right after performing at an event, heading straight to collect scrap with her brother.

Her brother suffers from a level 3 intellectual disability and also has obsessive-compulsive disorder. He feels compelled to pick up any item and cannot throw anything away, carrying cigarette butts and trash in his pockets and piling up garbage in their room.

Shin Se-ryeong explained, “I lived with my brother and my nephew, but my nephew had to go to the hospital for treatment, so now it’s just the two of us.” Her nephew, who has a level 3 intellectual disability, is currently hospitalized in a mental health facility due to alcohol addiction. Shin Se-ryeong said, “My sister-in-law left the house (due to an affair),” adding, “I felt that if I sacrificed myself, the whole family would be happy, and my parents could rest comfortably until they pass away, so I took on the responsibility of caring for my brother and nephew for 18 years.”

Shin Se-ryeong was previously married but is now divorced. Reflecting on her life as a single mother, she said, “It was really overwhelming to raise a child and make a living alone. I think I’ve tried everything except stealing and scamming.” She continued, “The father of my child liked to gamble. He neglected the family and was imprisoned for fraud. I couldn’t live with this person, so I separated from him,” sharing her heartbreaking story.
