Jeong Ji-seon felt betrayed by his disciples.

On the afternoon of the 9th, KBS2's entertainment program 'The Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears' (hereafter 'Sadangui') featured Lee Soon-sil, Jeong Ji-seon, and Shin Jong-cheol.

On this day, the first boss, Lee Soon-sil, appeared. He had prepared snacks for the audience in advance to stand on the stage of the Unification Echo Orchestra.

As a result, a cheering squad unique to Soon-sil was formed, and Soon-sil said, “When I do a V sign, you can clap your hands in the North Korean style that you just learned. And if you put your hands next to your ears, you can shout ‘Milk-colored Lee Soon-sil’. When I raise my hands, you cheer.”

After several reviews, a perfect North Korean audience was born. Before going on stage, Lee Soon-sil had a meal with the orchestra.

Defector musician Park Seong-jin revealed, when asked why he defected, “At a friend's wedding, some officials were drunk and asked me to sing a rotten song (capitalist song). So I sang 'Chilgapsan'. I was ordered by the officials and ended up in prison for 40 days. It was so cramped that my ankle bones started to rot. But I also received a death sentence.” This shocked everyone.

He continued, “An official called me to the interrogation room and said, ‘Don’t ever sing songs from Yanbian again.’ After that, I was transported in a car to a place called Taean in South Hwanghae Province. I was expelled. It was close to South Korea, so there were a lot of leaflets. Seeing that, it was so different from what I learned. South Korea was living so well. That’s why I defected.”

He explained, “I attended an art college, and the selection criteria were very simple. You just need to have no disabilities in your hands and be pretty or handsome.” Park Seong-jin emphasized, “The basics are your face.”

Hearing this, Lee Soon-sil greedily asked, “Can’t I get in?” and Seong-jin replied, “You can get in. If you’re good at instruments or singing in a North Korean art school but are ugly, they say you got in through connections. But if you’re pretty and can’t play an instrument at all, there’s no problem. But they say you got in through connections. You have a big face, so the tuba suits you well.”

The Unification Echo Orchestra began, and various performances such as 'Play the Music!' and 'Beautiful Country' unfolded. Soon-sil's turn came, and he signaled to the audience he had planted in advance, and they cheered for him as practiced, causing everyone to burst into laughter.

Soon-sil said, “When I came to South Korea, everyone was trying to diet. When I first came to South Korea, I was 51kg, but now I’m 89kg. If you want to lose weight, come to me. I’ll send you to North Korea for just two days. South Korea is a country where you can achieve your dreams. Don’t give up on your dreams like me.” He left a short but powerful talk stage.

The second boss was Chef Jeong Ji-seon. From the snowy morning, he visited the home of his employee Chef Kim Hee-won. Kim Hee-won was on guard, asking, “Why are you here?” and Jeong Ji-seon expressed concern, saying, “I heard you were sick.”

Jeong Ji-seon checked the refrigerator and the room, and told the sick Kim Hee-won to do the dishes. Ji-seon said, “I came to cook for you since you’re sick. I can cook in 15 minutes on 'Naeun's Cooking Show', so I’ll try to cook something even if there’s nothing.”

He cooked Taiwanese specialty beef tripe noodles and completed it in a short time. Kim Hee-won exclaimed, “It tastes similar! I ate it all!”

After Kim Hee-won finished eating, Jeong Ji-seon said, “Doesn’t it seem like I just came here? Are you hiding something? You applied, right? Survival.” He spoke directly. Hee-won admitted, “I was preparing to apply.”

Jeong Ji-seon pressed, “But why didn’t you tell me?” and Hee-won explained, “I thought you were busy and didn’t want to bother you.” Jeong Ji-seon worried, “But you’re our restaurant manager and my disciple. What if you tarnish my name?”

Kim Hee-won said, “Actually, it’s not just me, Jin-mo is also...” revealing the truth, and Jeong Ji-seon expressed disappointment, saying, “It’s disappointing that you’re not getting help from me when it’s related to me. Let’s go see Jin-mo. Let’s go catch him.”

The two arrived at the restaurant run by Chef Park Jin-mo, and Jeong Ji-seon immediately asked, “You two applied for the survival show I left, right?” Park Jin-mo was flustered, saying, “We’re preparing...” and explained, “The chef is too busy to talk.”

When Jeong Ji-seon asked what they were preparing, Park Jin-mo replied, “I’m filling out the application and filming a video.” Jeong Ji-seon said, “I didn’t know this. I was born with a silver spoon. So I need to see your application.”

After seeing Kim Hee-won's self-introduction, Jeong Ji-seon scolded, “If you write about meditating by the river or the sea, just don’t write it!”

Afterward, when Jeon Hyun-moo saw Hee-won's application video, he was surprised, saying, “Isn’t this CCTV? Why are you filming a work video?” and Jeong Ji-seon said, “This is too lacking in sincerity. You should either make a fancy menu or at least greet at the start of the video. There’s a lot wrong here.”

After watching Park Jin-mo's video, Jeong Ji-seon criticized, “Are you playing with garlic? Why are you doing that without even turning on the fire? You’re really lacking in sincerity. The person who filmed this must have been bored. Think from their perspective. Since you can’t taste it, you need to choose a menu that captures attention. The point of Chinese cuisine is its flamboyance and delicacy. You need to present dishes you can confidently serve.”

Kim Hee-won and Park Jin-mo decided to create test dishes, with Hee-won making seafood tofu stew and Jin-mo making a catfish dish.

Jeong Ji-seon remarked, “Both the process and visuals are a failure. The tofu stew relies on the broth, but I think the shape is wrong. Watching Jin-mo cook, the ingredients are inconsistent, so it doesn’t look good. There’s no winner today! I don’t think either of you can use my name.”

Kim Sook lamented, “If that’s the case, why did you make them compete?” Ultimately, Jeong Ji-seon modified both of their dishes and demonstrated his own visuals and flavors.

The third boss was Chef Shin Jong-cheol. He approached a dining customer and said, “Do you know me? I’m being called the god of buffets these days. Should I take a picture with the kids?” showing early symptoms of star disease and eliciting laughter.

He then made a homemade brown sauce and said, “The sauce I use is the best of the best. If I had known this earlier, I would have reached the top long ago,” brainwashing the staff.

At that moment, Sunwoo Yong-yeo and Lee Kyung-sil came to see him. Shin Jong-cheol asked, “Is your grandson Eden doing well?” and both Sunwoo Yong-yeo and Lee Kyung-sil boasted about their grandsons. Shin Jong-cheol pleaded, “Please take care of me too,” and Sunwoo Yong-yeo opened up about her personal life, saying, “Yes, you will get married.”

Shin Jong-cheol said, “Actually, I’m a 20-year-old divorcee, and when the older ladies see me, they tell me to get married.” Sunwoo Yong-yeo said, “What I want for him is to get married,” and Lee Kyung-sil asked, “But why aren’t you really getting married?” curious. Shin Jong-cheol politely replied, “I don’t have time.”

When Jeon Hyun-moo asked him to talk about his ideal type, Shin Jong-cheol revealed, “I used to like Yoo Ho-jung’s style, but now I like cute people like Jo Yeo-jung. Because I’m serious, I like cute people.” Hearing this, Soon-sil said, “I know 35,000 North Korean defectors. Couples from North and South Korea usually do well! If I hadn’t gotten married, I would have met the chef.” This made everyone burst into laughter.

Afterward, Shin Jong-cheol served various dishes such as appetizers, grilled lamb chops, and beef soup, satisfying the two.

‘Sadangui’ can be seen every Sunday at 4:45 PM on KBS2.
