Actress Lee Hyeri delivered a performance optimized for thrillers with her intense emotional acting.
In the STUDIO X+U drama 'Good Competition' (Planning: STUDIO X+U / Production: YLAB FLEX, STUDIO X+U / Directed by: Kim Tae-hee / Screenplay: Kim Tae-hee, Min Ye-ji), Lee Hyeri plays Yoo Jae-yi, a top 0.1% hexagonal high school student who is struggling to uncover her father's secrets, enhancing the immersion of the work with her captivating performance.
In the 14th episode released on the 4th, Yoo Jae-yi (played by Lee Hyeri) attempted to set a trap for her father Yoo Tae-jun (played by Kim Tae-hoon) to find her sister Yoo Jae-na (played by Choo Ye-jin), but failed. Following Tae-jun's guidance, Jae-yi confronted her mentally unstable sister at a villa, sharply opposing her father who had ruined her sister.
Afterward, for some reason, Jae-yi began to distance herself from Woo Seul-gi (played by Jung Soo-bin), turning coldly against him as he persistently followed her. She revealed that her previous kindness was not genuine but rather a means to manipulate Seul-gi, transforming from a warm persona to a cold stranger.
Despite the short runtime of just over 25 minutes, Lee Hyeri perfectly controlled the fluctuating emotions of her character. After being countered by her father, she explosively expressed her anger, and in the confrontation scene with Kim Tae-hoon (playing Yoo Tae-jun), she detailed her deep resentment and hostility that she could hardly contain.
In particular, during the scene where she betrays Jung Soo-bin (playing Woo Seul-gi), she turned cold enough to render their previously built relationship meaningless, mocking Soo-bin as she dismissed the entire situation as a game, showcasing the ruthless side of a villainess. Throughout, Lee Hyeri has portrayed the enigmatic character of Yoo Jae-yi in a multi-dimensional way, elevating the tension of the girl thriller drama to its peak.
Thanks to Lee Hyeri's passionate performance, 'Good Competition' continues to deliver a gripping story with each episode, and the 15th episode will be released on Wednesday, the 5th, at midnight.
