Divorce attorney Yang So-young (54) revealed the reason behind her declaration of a 'graduated marriage.'
On the 29th, the Channel A cultural program 'Close Friends Documentary: Four-Person Dining Table' aired, featuring actress Bang Eun-hee inviting her close friends, lawyer Yang So-young and Yul-hee, to share their stories.
On that day, lawyer Yang So-young recalled, “When I announced that I was going to have a graduated marriage, I received calls from the whole neighborhood saying, ‘I will pray for you.’ My husband couldn’t even show his face.”
Previously, in April, lawyer Yang revealed on the MBN entertainment program 'You Have to Run to Live' that she was contemplating a graduated marriage, expressing her concerns about how to discuss it with those around her if she went through with it, and tearfully confessed, “I want to break free from the various obligations within the institution of marriage.”
She explained her decision to pursue a graduated marriage, saying, “I spent my 20s studying for exams and got married in my 30s. I’ve been married for 25 years without ever properly experiencing MTs, blind dates, or travel. Suddenly, in my mid-50s, I had a realization: ‘Where is my life?’ It’s not about my husband; I have a strong desire to live my own life.”
She continued, “When I said I would have a graduated marriage, my husband seemed serious and one day handed me a book to read. I thought it was a love confession, but it was a memoir written by a hospice worker. The content was about how beautiful life is when couples support each other while witnessing various deaths. It seems my husband wants me to be his hospice,” she said with a smile.
Bang Eun-hee commented, “(Her husband) is cute,” and Yul-hee added, “(Her husband) even drives me to the filming location.” In response, lawyer Yang noted, “That kind of thing didn’t happen before. My husband is gradually becoming sweeter,” mentioning the changes in her husband after her declaration of a graduated marriage.
Lawyer Yang has primarily handled family law cases for about 25 years. It has been reported that her first and second daughters were accepted into the Business Administration Department at Seoul National University, and her third son was accepted into the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Seoul National University, drawing attention.
