tvN's new drama 'Typhoon Company' has announced the confirmed casting of Lee Junho and Kim Minha.
The new tvN drama 'Typhoon Company' (directed by Lee Na-jung, written by Jang Hyun, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Imaginas, Studio PIC, and Tristudio) depicts the growth of a young CEO striving to protect the small business 'Typhoon Company' left by his father during the 1997 IMF financial crisis, along with the struggles of his family and employees. Even during the bleak times when the world seemed to have come to an end due to the crisis that struck South Korea, the drama aims to provide warm comfort and courage to those who are going through tough moments today by showcasing the heartfelt survival stories of ordinary people who kept their places and did not stop living.
Director Lee Na-jung, known for her works such as 'Fight for My Way', 'Love Alarm', 'Mine', and 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator', has garnered attention for her ability to capture both artistic quality and box office success through her immersive and sensuous direction. Joining her are two actors, Lee Junho and Kim Minha, who are expected to create a box office storm as they take on the roles of young adults ready to face the IMF crisis head-on. Their participation is significant as they depict the success story of overcoming a crisis in South Korea while solidifying their status as leading actors in K-content both domestically and internationally.
First, actor Lee Junho, who has created a sensation with hits like 'The Red Sleeve', 'King the Land', and whose next project has been highly anticipated, will play the role of 'Kang Taepung', depicting the growth of a young representative. Taepung is a member of the affluent Apgujeong Orange tribe, having been born to well-off parents. However, when the 'Typhoon Company', which his father cherished as much as his family, collapses due to the IMF crisis in 1997, he becomes the representative to protect it. Although he had his immature moments, he is armed with a warm heart, strong sense of responsibility, spirit of challenge, and diligence, and he will experience setbacks and growth alongside those around him during the crisis, gradually becoming a true adult. Expectations are already high for Lee Junho's transformation into a storm-like performance.
Kim Minha, who received international acclaim for her deep emotional portrayal of a character with a strong inner self in the 'Pachinko' series, will play the role of 'Oh Miseon', the accountant of Typhoon Company. Miseon is a K-daughter who carries the burden of family on her small shoulders, embodying responsibility and thriftiness during that time in 1997. At Typhoon Company, she handles tasks such as washing cups, cleaning, attaching receipts, and organizing ledgers. She meets Kang Taepung, who appears to save the company from bankruptcy due to the IMF, and begins to have hope. With her diligence as her strength, she steadily grows and nurtures her dream of becoming a successful career woman as a 'company person'. The chemistry between Lee Junho and Kim Minha as they confront the IMF is expected to be another highlight of the drama.
The production team explained, "Typhoon Company sheds light on the stories of ordinary neighbors who first overcame those tumultuous waves. Thus, while there may be more difficult and challenging paths ahead, we want to convey that the most ordinary yet special among us can overcome them." They continued, "To faithfully recreate that era and portray the indomitable spirit of youth, we have brought together trusted and popular actors Lee Junho and Kim Minha. In the second half of 2025, we will present a work that shares hopeful energy and courage with viewers, capable of overcoming any crisis. We ask for your great interest."
tvN's new drama 'Typhoon Company' is set to air in the second half of this year.
