MBC's late-night news program ‘MBC News 25’ is being established.
Starting from the 17th, the new late-night news program ‘MBC News 25’ will be broadcast. This marks the revival of late-night news after the cancellation of ‘News 24’ in August 2017, a gap of over 7 years.
‘MBC News 25’ is scheduled to air for about 15 minutes after midnight, delivering the day’s major news concisely and impactfully, while also strengthening international and economic news coverage. In particular, regional correspondents from the U.S., Northeast Asia, and Europe are expected to participate in real-time, providing on-the-ground analysis and in-depth reporting on global issues. Additionally, in the event of major incidents or disasters, the program will quickly transition to an emergency broadcast system to respond promptly. ‘MBC News 25’ is expected to fill the gap in MBC's late-night news and establish itself as a new information platform.
The anchor will be Yeohong-kyu, a reporter with 27 years of experience. Reporter Yeoh joined MBC in 1997 and has built expertise in the fields of economy, diplomacy, security, and politics, having served as the head of the News Today editing team, head of the unification and diplomacy team, Washington correspondent, head of the digital news team, weekend news center head, and editing center head. Recently, he has been active as a member of the MBC Journalism Responsibility Committee.
Reporter Yeoh expressed his feelings, saying, “I feel a heavy responsibility given that this news program is returning after over 7 years and the seriousness of the current situation.” He continued, “Since the declaration of the emergency martial law on December 3, the public wants to know the truth amidst the flood of news pouring in every day. At this point, I believe my greatest responsibility as a news anchor is to accurately convey objective facts and provide a balanced perspective on the key issues currently unfolding.” He added, “Above all, I will prioritize the trust of the viewers as the utmost value.”
