Seo Jeong-hee reflected on her marriage to her late ex-husband, Seo Se-won, on 'Lovers of Joseon'.
On the 10th, the TV Chosun entertainment program 'Lovers of Joseon' featured Seo Jeong-hee joining as a new lover with her 6-year-younger architect boyfriend.
On this day, the production team asked Seo Jeong-hee about the reasons behind her decision to remarry, as she is set to marry in May. Seo Jeong-hee replied, "I had many thoughts about the wedding. I have scars from my wedding. It wasn't a beautiful wedding, and I got married during a very difficult time. Looking at the wedding photos brings me sadness."
At the time of her marriage to Seo Se-won, when she was 19 years old, she said, "My ex-husband's love was always one-sided and terrifying. When he asked, 'If you were born again, who would you marry?' I would say, 'Even if I were born again, I would marry you. I would marry Dad.' I called him 'Dad'. I always obeyed him, did what he told me, and if he said not to go outside, I wouldn't go out."
The painful marriage ended when Seo Se-won's domestic violence was revealed. Seo Jeong-hee stated, "I burned all my diaries when I got divorced. I hated my past marriage so much that I wanted to erase it."
She continued, "I didn't want to get married again, but I think a lot changes depending on who you meet," adding, "After meeting this person (Kim Tae-hyun), all those thoughts disappeared. My trauma regarding men has been positively diluted," expressing her affection for her boyfriend.
Meanwhile, Seo Jeong-hee married comedian Seo Se-won in 1982 and had one son and one daughter, but they faced a divorce after 33 years of marriage in 2015.
After the divorce, Seo Se-won remarried a woman known as a traditional music performer and moved to Cambodia, where he died of cardiac arrest last April.
Seo Jeong-hee revealed that she has been in a relationship with architect Kim Tae-hyun since last January. The couple is set to marry in May.
