Actor Go Seung-hwan revealed the reason he was able to overcome his 20 years of being unknown.
On the 5th, Go Seung-hwan appeared as a guest on tvN's ‘You Quiz on the Block’, celebrating his peak after 20 years since his debut.
On this day, Yoo Jae-suk said, "There is an article that says, 'Why are we so excited about Go Seung-hwan and Byun Woo-seok?' This is an actual article," to which Go Seung-hwan awkwardly responded, "Please don't." He continued, "Looking back at last year, Byun Woo-seok had a huge hit with 'Seonjae Upgo Tui' in May. I also became a bit known in May with 'I Live Alone', so I think I got grouped with Byun Woo-seok."
Go Seung-hwan said, "It's absolutely incomparable, but I am getting older, and Byun Woo-seok also hit his potential in his 30s. Since we are not young anymore, it happened for both of us." Yoo Jae-suk summarized, "Along with the affection, people support you, and your genuine appearance resonates with them. There’s also a sense of vicarious satisfaction from seeing you do what they can't do, so I think there were various reasons."
Go Seung-hwan, who dreamed of being a comedian in his childhood, said, "When teachers hit me in elementary school, I would go 'Ah!' trying to be funny. I wanted to get hit one more time to be funny." Yoo Jae-suk laughed, saying, "That’s very much our side."
Later, Go Seung-hwan gave up on his dream of being a comedian and joined a theater troupe in Daehangno. He mentioned that he supported his living expenses by doing various part-time jobs, from logistics unloading to telemarketing and opera crew, saying, "I think I lived happily rather than just enduring." Yoo Jae-suk admired, "It's amazing that despite all the hardships, you say, 'It was good exercise' and 'I enjoyed it.' I think Go Seung-hwan's positive mindset is his greatest strength."
After 20 years of debuting, Go Seung-hwan, who finally made a name for himself, said, "Younger juniors ask me, 'How did you endure?' I tell them, 'I never endured. I just lived each day happily, and it worked out at the right time.' If I had thought I was enduring, could I have done this job for 20 years? I absolutely think I couldn't have."
