On this day, ‘Salimnam’ saw a significant increase in ratings for the New Year, once again claiming the top spot in overall Saturday entertainment ratings, marking a pleasant start to the year.
Guest star STAYC's Sieun drew attention by saying about her entertainment industry veteran father Park Nam-jung, “He usually doesn’t nag much,” and added, “Instead, he asks me to monitor events.”
Regarding the trending ‘Teddy Bear’ challenge, which is derived from the term ‘Daddy Bear’ (where Sieun danced with her father Park Nam-jung), she said, “I really pushed for it. I thought many people would be curious about the father-daughter duo,” and added, “Since it was a girl group choreography, my dad had trouble managing his expressions. So, he wore a mask,” revealing the behind-the-scenes story.
Following that, the daily life of Park Seo-jin's family was revealed. Unlike usual, Park Seo-jin's parents took their lethargic son to a lively fish market. Amid the chaos, Seo-jin, who was diligently helping his parents, began to regain his energy, and Park Seo-jin's father advised his son, “Doesn’t this remind you of the old days? Everyone is determined and living fiercely. No matter what anyone says, let’s live hard without being shaken.”
Afterward, Park Seo-jin returned to his home in Samcheok and started to regain his original self while bickering with his younger sister Hyo-jung. Hyo-jung teased Park Seo-jin, who was voted second in a graduation album survey for “the person who would be the most cowardly when meeting a gangster.” She also mentioned the nickname “Trot Pudding” and continued to attack Park Seo-jin by saying, “My brother fixed his pudding and remodeled it to succeed.” In response, Park Seo-jin said, “Hyo-jung has a talent for covering up her gloomy feelings with a bit of annoyance. It’s a strange skill,” revealing that he felt relieved thanks to her.
Park Seo-jin also shared a drink and talked with his brother after a long time, and he felt comforted by his usually quiet brother’s words. With their parents and Hyo-jung also present, the unique family love of the Park Seo-jin family created a warm atmosphere.
Lee Min-woo expressed his worries about his mother, who has been unwell since the New Year. Although Lee Min-woo's mother recently found vitality through Park Seo-jin's fan activities, she showed signs of rapidly declining energy. While having a meal with his father, Lee Min-woo couldn’t hide his distress when his father said, “As you get older, (health) changes day by day. I hope you don’t worry about us and live for yourself.”
Lee Min-woo confessed about the thought of parting with his parents, saying, “It’s something I don’t even want to imagine. I don’t think I can handle the separation.” Meanwhile, Lee Min-woo revealed that the photo of his mother, which has always been by his bedside, is her memorial photo, saying, “(After the lung cancer diagnosis) my mom wanted to take a beautiful picture for her memorial.” His mother also shared, “I wanted to take it while I was still young,” evoking a sense of heaviness.
Lee Min-woo expressed his anxiety while talking about his mother, who had knee surgery and was diagnosed with lung cancer and dementia, and his father, who suffered from a myocardial infarction. He stated, “The saying ‘You can’t fool age’ feels real. It was devastating because there’s nothing I can do.”
Later, when Lee Min-woo suggested that his parents get health check-ups, his mother refused, saying, “Everyone gets sick as they age,” and raised her voice, saying, “I’m sick because it’s my time to go. Let those who will live long go. If life is short, it’s better to die quickly.” This led to heightened family conflicts, and amidst the serious atmosphere, curiosity grew about the next steps for Lee Min-woo's family.
