Golden Disc Awards Recorded Broadcast to Air on the 6th and 7th

The Golden Disc Awards, which had its live broadcast canceled due to the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy, will be available to watch starting from the 6th.

According to JTBC's schedule on the 3rd, the recorded broadcast of the '39th Golden Disc Awards' for the digital music category will air at midnight on the 6th, and the album category will air at 1:20 AM on the 7th.

The 'Golden Disc Awards' will take place on the 4th and 5th at the PayPay Dome in Fukuoka, Japan. Originally, it was scheduled to be broadcast live on JTBC2 and JTBC4 at 6 PM on that day, but due to the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy, the live broadcast and red carpet events were canceled and replaced with a recorded broadcast.

On the 31st of last month, the Golden Disc Awards Secretariat expressed their condolences through their official account, stating, "We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families of the passenger plane accident," and added, "In order to share in the grief of the nation, the live broadcast of the '39th Golden Disc Awards' scheduled for January 4th and 5th will be replaced with a recorded broadcast, and the broadcast dates will be announced later."

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy, recorded as the worst aviation accident in the country, occurred at 9:03 AM on the 29th of last month when Jeju Air flight 7C2216, coming from Bangkok, Thailand, collided with the outer wall of the airport runway during landing. Out of the 181 passengers on board, 179, excluding 2 crew members, lost their lives. It has been confirmed that the majority of the victims were residents of Gwangju and Jeonnam. In response, the government has designated a national mourning period until the 4th.
