Choi Daniel made an extraordinary kimjang kimchi.
On the afternoon of the 21st, the MBC entertainment program 'Knowing Bros' (hereinafter 'KBS') featured actor Choi Daniel and Yuna.
In this episode, Yuna's manager Lee Chang-hoon introduced himself and Yuna, saying, "I became her dedicated manager after the movie shooting started. We are currently living in a hotel in Gwangju for about two weeks while filming the movie 'The Second Child.' Since she is a minor, her mother accompanies her to all the sets. I am in charge of the on-site work."
The first person Yuna called after waking up was her grandmother. She asked, "Have you eaten yet? Do you miss me more or your mom more?" Her grandmother replied, "I want to see both. But I miss you more. Two weeks is too long. Our granddaughter is so wonderful. I'm proud and think she's so pretty," expressing her affection. Yuna added, "I'm really noisy at home. I talk a lot, but since I'm away, my mom said it's peaceful."
After going to the bathroom, Yuna washed her face and only washed her bangs before applying toner, ampoule, and tone-up cream to her face in order. Afterward, she played board games with her mother, and as soon as the game ended, she had a video English class. Hong Hyun-hee, who heard her English skills, asked, "Why is your pronunciation so good? Did you live abroad?" Yuna replied, "I lived until I was five. It wasn't in the U.S., but in the Philippines, which is also an English-speaking country," revealing the secret to her English skills. Jeon Hyun-moo, who majored in English, also acknowledged, "Yeah, the pronunciation is different."
After finishing her English study, Yuna studied math and reviewed the script for the movie she was filming that day. Playing the role of Suzu in 'After Father Left,' she emotionally recited her lines, saying, "Did you know, sisters? Dad said the same thing?" She performed the lines with different emotions three times, and Lee Young-ja, watching her, wiped her tears, saying, "It reminded me of my father... When my father passed away, I said, 'Goodbye, Dad.' I felt that emotion while watching this," revealing the reason for her tears and touching the hearts of viewers.
While having lunch with her mother and manager at a soup restaurant, Yuna asked, "Mom, why are you wearing a different necklace instead of the one I gave you?" Her mother explained, "I'm afraid I might lose the one you gave me... I'm worried I might lose the necklace and bag you gave me."
Yuna, who gifted her mother a luxury bag and necklace, said, "My mom really likes necklaces. Now that I'm in middle school, I wanted to give her a meaningful gift. I went with cash that I had saved up since I was a baby! My monthly allowance is 30,000 won, but when I go out with friends, my mom adds a little bit. However, she doesn't take the money I receive during holidays," she said. She continued, "I have a mini safe. I've secretly saved a lot in there. I put the saved money in a bag, took the bus to the department store, and bought this, but my mom only carries this around."
While driving to the next schedule, Yuna passionately sang god's 'Lie,' and her manager said, "Yuna became a fan of god after appearing with actor Yoon Kye-sang on 'Kidnapping Day,' so she goes to their concerts and listens to their music every time we move." Yuna added, "We contact each other often! Sometimes he texts me, 'I'm filming now,' and when I message him, he replies within 30 seconds. He even gifted me hairpins and headbands," boasting. When she actually received a message from Yoon Kye-sang during filming, Yuna exclaimed, "Right away? Wow! I have to show Wootan," and sent a photo of an orangutan, to which Yoon Kye-sang replied, 'It's a monkey,' causing laughter.
As the second main character, Choi Daniel appeared, amusing the panelists by drinking water straight from an electric kettle as soon as he woke up. He said, "Isn't something wrong? 33.9 degrees?" and decided to do acupressure himself, wiping away the blood and regaining his energy. After seeing gifts and letters from fans in a delivery box, he exclaimed, "Wow, a hat? Wait a minute!" and excitedly put on a hat and coat, saying, "Pretty! Not bad! Oh, great. So good! No, my fans... Wow, this is no joke! How do you read this at the end?" becoming self-absorbed.
While looking at another fan's gift of a beanie and letter, he took out 10 kg of salted napa cabbage and various seasonings piled up at the door, saying, "I lived a lot at my aunt's house when I was young, so she's almost like a mom to me. When I was young, I watched my aunt making kimchi. I feel like I'm continuing that memory, and if I don't make kimchi, that image will be cut off. I know. I can pass it on to the next generation," explaining the reason for making kimchi. Jeon Hyun-moo teased, "Why are you talking like a kimchi master?" and Song In-hee joked, "Who wants to eat Choi Daniel's kimchi?" making everyone burst into laughter.
After taking out all the kimjang ingredients, he poured in 500g of sweet rice flour, cooked the mixture, and added two bags of kelp, expired shiitake mushroom powder, anchovy powder, and fish cake tea bags, surprising the panelists. He then took out cocktail shrimp and said, "This is half-aunt! Our aunt didn't use this shrimp. But isn't all shrimp the same? I'm going to use it to add umami like oysters. And I'll just chop it up," as he minced the shrimp.
Daniel came to the living room, spread the script on the floor, and mixed the glue he made earlier with red pepper powder. He said, "When my aunt did it, it was red, right? Oh, I think this is the feeling," as he prepared the seasoning and then prepared radish salad, immediately adding perilla powder.
Finally, he added shrimp sauce, minced garlic, kanari sauce, sugar, anchovy sauce, and ground cocktail shrimp, tasted the seasoning, and exclaimed, "Mmm, this is it! This is it!" showing his satisfaction.
After making kimchi, he ate it with meat ramen, saying, "Mmm! Ji-hoon, I made kimchi. But it's a bit salty!" and decided to give his manager some kimjang kimchi. The manager replied, "It was too salty. But it was good to eat with rice," sharing his thoughts on the kimjang kimchi.
The next day, upon arriving at the filming site for 'Sorry for Today,' Choi Daniel greeted the director, Jeon So-min, and Kim Mu-jun, creating a friendly atmosphere. He then displayed serious acting skills on set, surprising the panelists with his outstanding performance.
'Knowing Bros' airs every Saturday at 11:10 PM on MBC.
