'Ask the Stars' Lee Min-ho revealed his first acting chemistry with Gong Hyo-jin.
On the afternoon of the 18th, a production presentation for tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'Ask the Stars' (written by Seo Sook-hyang, directed by Park Shin-woo) was held at the 6th floor of D-Cube City in Sin-dorim, Guro-gu, Seoul. Director Park Shin-woo, actors Lee Min-ho, Gong Hyo-jin, Oh Jung-se, Han Ji-eun, and others attended.
Lee Min-ho plays the role of a gynecologist named Dinosaur, who stays at a space station for a few days as a space tourist. Lee Min-ho explained, "In an effort to escape the compromises and harsh realities of life, I dream of something new, receive a mission, and go to space. In this unknown space with nothing, my character seeks to find himself, discover new love, and find new life."
Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin are acting together for the first time. Regarding this, Lee Min-ho said, "I wanted to work with Gong Hyo-jin since my 20s, but we met later than I expected. It was a great experience to be able to share eye contact and breathe in a place without air. There were many situations that were new to me. In such situations, having a partner who is mentally supportive is very significant. She is lovely and fundamentally a person who shows consideration and respect. Just being together made me feel comfortable. I was happy to have a senior who helped me perform at over 100%."
Gong Hyo-jin responded, "Lee Min-ho is not the type to roam around outside. I thought he might be prickly as seen in the drama. But when I met him, I found out he thinks a lot, which was new to me. He seems easygoing but actually thinks deeply and struggles. His perspective on the work seemed very smart. I thought he was mature."
She continued, "In the filming environment that felt like heading into the unknown, camaraderie developed, and he felt like a younger brother who doesn't listen." To this, Lee Min-ho replied, "I wish you would stop nagging," which drew laughter. Gong Hyo-jin then expressed her affection by calling him a "reliable partner."
'Ask the Stars' is a full-fledged space romantic comedy that depicts the journey between a space station and Earth. It is a major production that took 5 years of preparation and has a production cost of 50 billion won. The renowned romantic comedy writer Seo Sook-hyang and director Park Shin-woo, who has built a strong fan base with his delicate direction, reunite after 'Jealousy Incarnate.'
