Singer Kim Ki-tae shares his family history.

The KBS2 entertainment program ‘Immortal Songs’ will feature a special episode titled ‘2024 Ballad War’ airing on the 30th at 6:05 PM.

Kim Ki-tae draws attention by revealing his family history for the first time, explaining his choice of Shin Yong-jae's song ‘The Reason I Became a Singer’. He begins, “The reason I worked hard on my singing is because of my mom,” and shares, “I haven't seen my mom since I was 17. She has never contacted me,” which captures the audience's attention. He adds, “In the past, I lived with the determination that I would definitely become a famous singer to show my mom, and that I would talk about my mom on air someday,” expressing his honest feelings and evoking a sense of poignancy.

Kim Ki-tae continues to explain his choice of ‘The Reason I Became a Singer’, saying, “When I was deeply saddened and in pain, this song resonated with me. I cried a lot,” and adds, “I want to replace someone’s sadness with this song. I hope that those who are hurting can find comfort in my music,” which reportedly moved the studio audience.

The special episode of <2024 Ballad War> features fierce competition among the leading male vocalists of South Korea. The hidden mastermind behind this special is Heo Gak. After watching Kim Ki-tae's performance in the 2024 first half king of kings competition, Heo Gak declared, “This is unfair,” and announced a ‘revenge battle’, initiating the ballad war among male vocalists and being involved in planning, directing, and casting to complete this special episode.

As a result, the strongest male vocalists selected by Heo Gak gather in one place. Monday Kiz (Lee Jin-sung) will perform Namhee's ‘Sad Fate’, Lim Han-byeol will sing Kim Gun-mo's ‘Love Alone’, and Shin Yong-jae will choose Park Jae-jung's ‘Let’s Break Up’. DK will perform Lee Moon-sae's ‘When Standing Under the Shade of a Tree’, Heo Gak will sing Lee Seung-hwan's ‘How Can Love Be Like This’, and Kim Ki-tae will choose Shin Yong-jae's ‘The Reason I Became a Singer’, drawing attention to the newly created stage.

Heo Gak's imagination has become reality in the ‘2024 Ballad War’ special, which can be seen on KBS2’s ‘Immortal Songs’ on the 30th at 6:05 PM.
