Broadcaster Seo Jang-hoon comforted a person who wanted to come out to their father.
On the 25th, a transgender graphic designer living in Berlin, Germany, appeared as a guest on KBS Joy’s ‘Ask Anything’.
The guest shared, “I am a transgender person who transitioned from male to female. I have come out to those around me, but I haven’t been able to come out to my father.” When Seo Jang-hoon asked, “Are you planning to come out here today?” the guest replied, “I would like some advice on how to proceed.”
The guest mentioned that only their mother and younger sibling know, and that they have not told their father. They also explained that they have returned to Korea but have not visited home.
Seo Jang-hoon advised, “Regardless of whether you resolve your concerns today, it’s already done because you came here. Since you’ve dropped the bomb, stay in Berlin until your father finds out. Don’t go home and get hurt unnecessarily; there’s a high possibility that an unwanted scenario may arise.”
He continued, “Who can stop someone from expressing their gender identity? However, before feeling hurt about not being understood, you should also try to understand your family’s feelings. For them, it’s likely something they never expected. I hope you can consider your family’s feelings as well.”
Meanwhile, ‘Ask Anything’ airs every Monday at 8:30 PM.
